I recently installed some gsc stage 2 cams on my evo 8, together with some 1200cc injectors,speed density kit,ams turbo back ex,ets 3.5 fmi, ams lower pipe,custom 3in upper pipe with a tial bov, and invidia 02 housin on a stock turbo....now the car was street tuned only, under boost on first gear the check engine blinks 3 to 4 times and disapears and the engine has a rough idle, the whole car just vibrates when idling, my question is, Is there any way to fix this idle or perhaps make it a lil smoother at idle or am i gonna always feel the car about to brake apart?

Sounds like you have a bad tune.Talk to your tuner and have him fix it.

 

U know thats what i had in mind!! evryone talks about this guy really well when it comes to tunin, but some how my cars he sucks at it!!!! i just hope this issue gets solve cuz i see my evo with some evil eyes when its time to get in it!!!

 

Yeah the car is picking up knock that's why your seeing flashing cel. You tuned on tephra?

What's your car idle at? 1100 should be the target with those cams. Otherwise if it's low it will sound rough and car will vibrate.

Stock motor mounts?

 

knock?? is it fixible??? im sure at tuning they can adjust that right....idle is set at 1100 right now ....and yes i do have stock mounts. what mounts should i get?

 

The mounts are fine. The issue is your tune. Tephra is the person who came up with the patches to allow things like flashing cel for knock etc. If you're just driving around normally and the light is flashing you need to go easy on the car and take it back to him. You have tephra sounds like, question is what version. Make sure your tuner knows about SD tuning also...it takes more work than a regular tune. Are you logging for him, does he have a dyno, ride with you to tune it? Have you told him about your issues?

 

I know he has tuned a lot of evos in the nyc area, he is awared of more dyno time needed , the car was just street tuned when we went speed density in order to make the car driveble, i hope once we take it to the dyno every issue will be solved. I was concern about idle roughness and the feelin that the car is always gonna shut off on me....i will ask him about the tephra program and see if he knows it ..I wish i knew how to tune on my own!!..thanks for the advice given
