The plain matter of the fact is, that the Lancer Evo will be 27-29K and will have about 250-290 horses, and I don't know why you guys are b---ing because you haven't enough ***** to handle anything beyond your 4 banger which you slapped on enough decals that if it was a plane it's crash into a friggin fence before it got off the ground. If you don't like it do you think Mitsubishi cares? No, they are selling it for cash, and trust me, modded down or not: it will sell.

I think what every one is tripping about is that everything that makes the EVO desirable in the first place may be stripped away or not even offered as an option. I know that if it came over with 250+hp that it is easy to extract much more power. The horse power isn't really a big concern to me.

250HP+ and AWD is not all that it takes to meet my expectation of an EVO

I personally would want the AYC, ACD, Brembos, Recaros etc.. It is AWD 250+hp and a great many other things that is on the jap and euro models that make it apealing to me. If offers a watered down version to meet the under $30K price great, but I hope they have a bad *** version that I identify with even if is $37k.

If the EVO comes stripped with just the 250HP+ and AWD the excitement is gone for me, because it might as well just be OZ rally with AWD and 250hp There are far to many kick *** cars coming out to settle on a $30k OZ rally

Got a little excited there, zer0load???

If Recaros were a part of the packaging, watch the E7 become the most stolen stuff in the US. Supply and Demand. There is still a lot of swelling demand for recaros in the underground market.

What's the going price 700-1200 bucks . . . hock one, you'll be rich in no time. Sooner or later, there will be gangs hocking E7 just for seats. Why do you think GSR and ITR have the most stolen parts . . . same principle.

Jeff sounds like you got a pretty mean ecplise Ive actually wanted a gen I gsx for a while now but I figured I would hold off and see what the evo is like when it comes out, and then decide if it will be worth the big car payments over. If its not worth it then I'm gonna buy a gsx and mod it into the low 12's

So how exactly would they get the brembos off....I'm curious. My Evo will always be in a garage, but your right, it will eventually be out in the open. I can only hope nothing will happen to it...

Still....I want Brembos, Recaros, AYC/ACD, and like 285HP stock. Then I will pay over 30K. Honestly...who does Mitsu think their fooling with this Lancer Cedia Turbo bull****? This car IS NOT AN EVO. It's a Lancer with a turbo and an Evo shell. I'll be damned if I buy this car....I want a Evolution VII....what do you guys want?

E7

I agree. I'm not paying 30k for a car that needs another 5-10k to bring it back to how it should have been from the factory. I think it will be a good performance car and won't be real watered down like some are thinking. BUT, if it is, I'll look elsewhere to spend my money.

Name or performance?

If Lancer Cedia Turbo = turbo 4G93 + AWD, disc brakes, and viscous diff, then I am not interested.

If Lancer Cedia turbo = 4G63T + AWD + optional Brembos and viscous diff then that means Evolution RS and that is okay by me.

I do not think Mitsubishi is considering offering the first car as an Evolution for the states. No one here is arguing that that would be an acceptable substitute for an EVO. But I still maintain that AYD and ACD don't make an Evo an Evo, it just makes one Evo more expensive or better equipped then another. If a driver doesn't want it, so be it - I like the idea of having choices.

Everyone should honestly be planning on a very mean alarm system. As for my Evo, there will be a kill switch and whatever that thing is that directly disables the starter solenoid. So someone will have to rip the seats/whatever else out where the vehicle sits. Plus my system will page me if there is anything more than a bump to the car (I won't get paged with every bump but I'll have it set to page me with codes depending on what is happening (glass breakage, significant vehicle motion ... like being hooked up to be towed ..etc). Evos, especially modified and with all the electronics mine will have (long list, long story), will be a hot item...but with the right system, not likely to be messed with.

I wasn't really going to reveal many of the gory details, but I'll give you one tidbit that is going to be part of the theft deterrent system on my Evo:

Military CS teargas canisters, one in each corner of the vehicle, wired into the alarm so that if the car is REALLY being messed with, there will be a gas cloud the size of a city block, disabling any further activity. this is not too hard to do and I will give info to the buyers' group once we have the cars. (the canisters can be obtained by civilians) This is also a useful adjunct to inhibiting being "followed" by someone you would like to lose (manual switch can trigger the rear 2...forcing anyone driving behind to stop).

Oh yeah, I'M crazy. RIGHT...LIKE ALL YOU AREN'T FRIGGIN FANATICS!!!! (plus, all those who are saying "that's overboard man" are going to be PM-ing me after they get their Evos!! )

I don't really see the Evolution becoming the next Integra Type R in the US. See, everyone jacks the Integras to strip them and put everything into their Civics, regular tegs, etc. Now, are there that many Lancer/Mirage owners? Are there enough of those who are willing to go criminal for the Evo parts?
See, Civics used to top the list for most stolen car and stuff because Civic owners were stealing each others cars and getting parts off them and puttin them in their own car. Then the Integra Type R and GSR came on the scene and then everyone was jackin them to fit everything that came in them on their Civic.
I don't really see this chain of events happening in the much less prominent Mitsubishi crowd.
You can't steal a car to keep it these days... You only steal them to strip them down. Nonetheless, having a good security system on your Evo wouldn't hurt...

Jackin' parts...

Now there's an epidemic of Acura TL owners HID headlights being ripped off because they can be put into the Accord. Still, we're dealing
with a limited edition car - 5000 units, compare that to the 300,000 Civics Honda sells every year and they 40-70000 Integras they used to sell. If anybody jacks an EVO it'll probably get stuffed in a container and shipped to South America or something. I don't think they'll be as great a candidate for stripping either. Better get a Lojack.

What a pity it will be to go to all that trouble to protect the evo, only to have it repossessed in the class action lawsuit.

OK OK...true....the CS teargas may be overkill. I just don't like people F...'n with my stuff. The lawsuit's a definite possibility if bystanders get fogged by it...but then there's really no residual damage to them

Probably have to rethink that defense idea. Forget I ever said it.
Really...just put it out of your mind...it'll never manifest in reality...was just a total fantasy. I don't know WHAT the hell I was thinking.

You bring up an interesting point...I know a guy who bought the ProDrive STi spoiler for his WRX...and it got stolen. Got another one... same thing! With all the regular Lancers out there its scary to think what might happen to your Evo's spoiler.
