My Engine blew tonight!

Doesn't surprise me at all. Back to the drawing board. I want a reliable DD that will put me at 11-11.5 in the 1/4 mile. I only have interest in going fast in a straight line. Will be running 93oct 100% of the time.

With the following mods below what kind of Engine would you suggest and why? Keep in mind I want to keep this reliable. Thanks for your opinions.

BR Ported 84MM FP RED
84MM FP Intake - Perrin Air Filter
BR TBE (test pipe)
BR MBC
BR Street FMIC
BR Ported Throttle Body, Intake and Exhaust Mani
HKS 272
PTE 1000cc
Megan O2 Housing
ARP Headstuds
Exedy Twin HD
Walbro 255
Synapse DV

Whats your budget? What condition is your current motor in? Is the block, head, and crank re-useable? We need more details. Are you wanting a stroker motor?

Yea, you should elaborate on the matter and tell us what happened. Why are you not suprised that you had an engine failure (bad tune?)?

I'd like to spend the least amount possible to get it running on a stock engine, but could probably handle $2-$3,000 extra on a setup that would be much safer. There is a hole in the front of the block, not sure on the head and crank. Not sure if I want a stroker motor. I honestly don't know the difference.

Hadn't been happy with the results since I modded a year ago. All I can do is laugh and move on. I don't even want to begin blaming the tune. I'd rather move forward.

New cams was my next step, but if I need a new engine anyway it might make sense to spend a little more on something better.

That is a link that buschur tells people to check out before they decide on a new buschur engine.. It sounds like a 2.3L stroker would fit your needs.

if your block is trashed I would go 2.4 the cores on those are cheap however if your block is still good and just want to clean it up and get new internals I would go with the 2.3 cause really unless its going to live on the 1/4 mile you don't need the high revs of a built 2.0 or 2.1

Those old HKS 272’s were the rage back in 2003 but a lot has changed and you need some GSC S2’s.

MAP Stage 2 2.4L would be pretty sweet in an VIII.
