Hks 7460
Hks 7460
whats yours guys' thoughts on this turbo? kinda looking into it as its something not too common. im only looking for around 400-450 so i think this turbo with an upgraded intercooler and a new/or ported manifold will do the trick. was looking into an fp red originally but with the install kit cost is pretty similar.
Bro there has been a lot of talk in the forum about this turbo already so I don't know if you are gonna get a lot of NEW opinions. I will tell you as I have used both that they are both good turbos. Are there better turbos for the same money... sure I mean depending on what you have mods wise and what your goals are that is an argument that will go on forever. Both turbos with the proper supporting mods will get you into the 400 Club. Now if it's 500+ you're after FP Red is definately the better turbo choice as I am fairly certain you won't get there on the GTII. A good tune, supporting mods and E85 will get you 500HP all day. There are also some other turbos that should be in the conversation though i.e. this new MAP Turbo that just dropped... the BBK-B, and BBK Full. Like I said I have been in a few debates dealing with these over the last few weeks so if its the quicker spool and DD efficiency of a ball bearing turbo you want go with the GTII, if you want bigger #'s and a bigger power band all the way to redline of a journal bearing turbo the FP Red is a better choice... My 2c
It seems like the community is a bit slow to warm up to this turbo. Though R/TErnie really seems to like it, and he likely has the most experience with it of anyone on evom https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...5-results.html
The turbo market is really taking off and the HKS GTII seems like a good addition. Its stock location BB setup is pretty appealing. The downside is HKS is pretty terrible to deal with if you have any problems. If you do go this route consider getting it through Sean at iveytune http://www.iveytune.com/ as he will actually answer the phone if you run into trouble.
P.S. Apparently there is a KAI revision (increased its heat resistance) that was recently added. If you end up buying a new one try to make sure it is one of the ones with the revision.
P.S.S. If I am right in assuming that you want a quick spooling BB turbo you should also check out the lineup from Garret and BorgWarner.

i thought about just saying the hell with it and going with a 35R lol. but i kinda like the twin scroll design. right now my car kinda has boost lag on stock turbo lol its kinda normal under full throttle until just under 4k then boost hits hard so a ball bearing would be cool. i hang with big turbo cars but once i do the turbo, intercooler and install my new cams(gsc's) i should be ok .

Right On! Well get it in and get it dun I always say. I have been comtemplating a 35R also but with all this new MAP Turbo and BBK Full talk that is going on I am still waiting to see. The spool on the GTII is trully intoxicating, it makes me wish I was back in Europe on the road courses over there. Either way there is plenty of opiniated information in here so I am sure you will make a good decision based on your personal goals or what have you.
after homework thus far the 7460,bbk full,35R,and fp red are the top picks. the 35R is proven to be a beast on well everything lol. but tons of guys on here rock the bbk full and make great power. so as far as hardcore facts those along with the fp red/green have the most support from our community. as far as price goes i think the bbk might be the best bang for the buck. but 35R hands down in all out power
All good points sooooo now it just comes down to what it is that you want it to do and what is going to be the best bet as far as whatever supporting mods you have or are planning on having. And ultimately is this going to be you efficient DD, or your beast track car. Your Street car/Auto X car or your Drag strip car. ALL THE ABOVE... Maybe, but it the end it will be what you make it ya know. Either way you appear to be on the right track so I am interested in seeing what you post about where your choices land you in the future. Good Luck!

Yes, but I see you only want 400-450, sorry. The comment about the 35r brought me to this. Damn mod bug....

The ATP turbo is a bolt on kit. Bolts on just like any other turbo. We've been testing one for some time on one of our cars here. Info was posted on this forum and another one. http://evoempire.org/topic/10389-atp...roduct-review/
