My dad's car currently has a similar problem where it sputters and backfires and will die after about a minute of running. I believe it's a bad sensor.

For a car not able to start it have to be either a Cam or Crank sensor.

Are you sure it has Spark?

Mike car has alot to do with that situation too. It makes a funny noise when it starts up almost like a bus. What does that mean?

Yes, check those two. Also check out the o2 sensor because that could also cause a car to die.

Is it only at start up or is the sound constant? Does the car die?
