You can run whatever you want, but whether or not it will last is another question.

Yes you will need to upgrade your valve train, your turbo will be fine. You will also need to get the car tuned in order to take advantage of the new parts.

If you need prices on stuff just let me know and Ill take care of you!

Which 280 cams? There's huge differences between all 280 cams.

280 cams on the stock turbo, especially the VIII stock turbo doesn't make much sense. The cams will shift the power band into the area that the turbo is maxed out in flow.

272 Cams should work nicely for a stock turbo.

I've heard good and bad about HKS 272's.

Can anyone add anything from experience?

The older HKS 272s are mild and won't show large power gains, especially without MIVEC. If you are going for cams, you would probably be better off with Kelford 272s or GSC S2s.

What kind of fuel are you running?

I have HKS 272s and I made 500whp on a dynojet. I really need to upgrade now though.

No point to run those 280 cams without upgrading the valve train components because without upgrading the springs and retainers you cannot take advantage of the extra power those will make up top in the higher rpm range.

People who run 272s and 274s upgrade their valve train. Piece of advice...do it right or do it twice.
When installing the cams, install the proper valve train to better support them so you can take advantage of the parts.

I highly suggest GSC S2s (which I run on my stock 8 turbo. They cams alone netted me approximately 35+ awhp (with GSC single beehive springs)). Others really like Kelford 272s also.
