Can I paint an intercooler?

Obviously I could paint it but how detrimental would it be to the cooling of the intercooler? I just got an ETS intercooler and I'd like to paint it black for stealth before installing it.

Sorry to thread jack but how about taking the paint off? I have a stealth perrin and the paint is chipping off badly and just want to remove the black paint? Anything i can dip it in to take off all the paint even inbetween the fins?

painting it black increases it's efficiency. Just like alloy radiators.

Paint the intercooler black for the stealth sleeper look? I just dont get it, you have an evo, there is no sleeper look.

+1 anodizing, but I'd love to see details on how painting it would increase efficiency.

I painted mine black a few years ago and have had zero issues, but it does fade over time. You can have an evo with the stealth look it just makes people wonder.

Just not looking for the "look I have a giant intercooler look" not trying to be a sleeper. Just looking for minimal police attention which has dramatically increased over my last car. I just still want the intercooler benefit. Please stick with helpful comments.

Yeah but the stock one is not so large and shiny. Additionally my exhaust is black, wheels are close to black etc:
Color consistency is also a factor.

an ETS is pretty nice, so if you are keeping it, anodize it. Pretty much end of thread.

That's what I'll be doing to mine, not for stealth, but just because I like the look.

If you want to paint it at least use radiator paint.... from the history of this topic, I've never EVER seen any data proving any type if significant degrigation of performance from painting an IC...or vs. anodizing it.
