Any help will be thankfull

So i just bought a evo 2003.. It seem like everytime i press the gas all the way down and over 4k rpms it seems like it has a rev limter or that is gonna stall or miss fire? and if i let off the gas and stomp back on it again it runs fine.
Any idea what could it be?

Maybe spark plugs?

Please any help ?

Thank you guys!

youre most likely, hitting boost cut. Have u been tuned? Where in Cali? If anywhere near the valley, hit up KT Motoring and let the tuner take a look...

Do yourself a big favor and take the car to an Evo-specific shop and have it checked out. Not an import shop, not a general speed shop, but one that specializes in Evolutions. Good luck.

SpeedElement, Full Function would be your best bet. You can visit EvoEmpire.org as well as they frequent that site.

^^^ this! If you have the stock tune in there w/ an exhaust, chances are youre hitting boost cut, and is rectified by a tune...

If you look at my thread in this topic section, I am having the same issue. Might want to check the spark plugs. When I pulled my plugs off, one of my plug wires was obliterated. I recently ordered a new spark plug wire set, and hoping this will resolve the issue.

Good luck to you!

99% sure it is because the plugs have never been changed. I would have a shop check them first, then plug wires, and lastly make sure it's not tune related (boost-cut).

by just changing the plugs is not enough. the best thing is to pull the map on the ecu see if it has been tuned. you car might leaned out or miss firing.
