The game is over.

I should finally have my transmission and stuff built by this weekend and I'm happy to say that I'm giving up the game. I've pretty much rebuilt my evo as a result of track days and modifications, so now I'm just going to drive it like a normal car. It is overbuilt for its purposes but I don't really want to sell it and I like the turbo noise.

With that said I am proud to say that I am getting out of the modification game. Anyone else still have their Evo and proud to say that its still a special car, but its no longer a money-pit/obsession?

How my car has been sitting for the past week waiting for the engine to go in. It was on all four jack stands for about 5+ months.

Just curious, when you say you are getting out of the modification game are you just done modding it and will leave it where it is at? Or are you going to turn it back to stock?

Mine is about to be back after a year and a half. Everything minus the rear diff has been rebuilt to an extreme and it only has 39k on it. Its been a rough ride but I must say I do not think I will ever own a car that I will enjoy this much. With that said if I have any major failures this summer I am not sure what I will do with myself or the car. I think I may have learned a very simple lesson a very hard way. Live and learn.

Nah, I've never liked civics. I'll just tip my hat and tell him how nice his car is and we'll go our separate ways; plus I won't be street racing because I really just don't care anymore.

Done modding, it would cost too much time to go back to stock. Currently finishing a built 2.3l with fully spec'd pistons, oliver rods, and k1 lightweight + supporting mods. The few things that should be modded but won't be are the transfer case and rear differential, but I just don't care enough to spend the money. The Shep 6spd build solidified my sentiments. Like I said it will just be an overbuilt street car that I enjoy looking at, listening to, and driving; no street racing, strip, etc. and I don't care how much HP the next evo or sti makes because I'm happy where I'm at.

right there with ya, but I stopped at the transmission. I don't plan on drag racing or tracking so I don't see the need for a built TC.

I didn't stop modding mine I just slowed down alot. I found that I enjoy it much more if I take my time. Also the car never really seems to "go down" this way. I enjoy the car soooo much more this way. Also don't stop racing her, just do it every once in a while, it's still enjoyable but you don't have to go crazy trying to shave off that 1/10 of a second. Drive it and enjoy it. That's what they are for.

I ended up with a built 2.0, Shep Ultimate Ratio 5 Speed, Stage 3 TC, Rebuilt and slighty upgraded Triple, and a ton of sleepless nights in the garage and I am still not there. I intend to keep it in the current condition as long as possible.

Nice, sounds like you are actually built for safe strip. Did you do head work or just shortblock? The prices went up on the TC builds and when I think about it I can't justify purchasing a new TC. Enjoy yours though man, hopefully its stays in that condition for a long long time .

Respectable thread.
I hope you'll still roam these forums with advice and feedback.
Perhaps this would have made an interesting poll as many are giving opinions
I think part of the game is "dreaming" of what the car could be and when it is there some ppl are left with a slight void. Often built cars are sold with very low mileage on the built engine
To each their own, Good Luck 8-D
