Respectable thread.
I hope you'll still roam these forums with advice and feedback.
Perhaps this would have made an interesting poll as many are giving opinions
I think part of the game is "dreaming" of what the car could be and when it is there some ppl are left with a slight void. Often built cars are sold with very low mileage on the built engine
To each their own, Good Luck 8-D

I'm more than willing to give people feedback on my build, tuning, and even help as I know DIY's can be a little frustrating and intimidating. At the end of the day for any enthusiasts I think the best thing to do is set a goal, stick to it, and not let your dream be altered by lust. This is what I've done and this is why I want to keep my car because I haven't gone beyond my means, in fact I don't think I've actively shopped for an Evo part in months and have no desire to find the next "hot" set of wheels, body parts, turbos, gauges, whatever.

I will not build another car to the level that I've built the Evo ever. In fact this is why the Evo X is probably going soon and the S4 has already departed. If the modification can't be done in a day, then I'm not doing it on whatever I get in the future. Likely though I just want my future car to look good and performance is a non-issue so just wheels, coilovers, and bbk (if the brakes are really small).
My understanding is that you have gone far enough, lost the passion, enthusiasm etc.
Time to take a break, re-evaluate & decide if you want to go further, stay at this level, or quit & sell.
No different than any hobby / sporting activity, relationship etc
The EVO is healthy for the mind but not the wallet
Peace

Nice, sounds like you are actually built for safe strip. Did you do head work or just shortblock? The prices went up on the TC builds and when I think about it I can't justify purchasing a new TC. Enjoy yours though man, hopefully its stays in that condition for a long long time
.
Nah, I've never liked civics. I'll just tip my hat and tell him how nice his car is and we'll go our separate ways; plus I won't be street racing because I really just don't care anymore.
Done modding, it would cost too much time to go back to stock. Currently finishing a built 2.3l with fully spec'd pistons, oliver rods, and k1 lightweight + supporting mods. The few things that should be modded but won't be are the transfer case and rear differential, but I just don't care enough to spend the money. The Shep 6spd build solidified my sentiments. Like I said it will just be an overbuilt street car that I enjoy looking at, listening to, and driving; no street racing, strip, etc. and I don't care how much HP the next evo or sti makes because I'm happy where I'm at.

Almost thought this was another accident thread haha. Your car is great and strong enough to stand amongst the best. As mentioned earlier its all about the journey, that's the greatest part.
You should try your hand at restoring cars if you want to get your wrenching fix. Very rewarding and if you choose a desirable model that money spent can be gained back if you decide to sell.
Either way, mature decision on your part. Good luck.

When I read you're comment about your car being on jackstands for 5+ months it struck a chord with me.
I grenaded my motor in November after dropping 4k on it. Decided I didn't even want to look at it for a few weeks as I would've sold it at that point (I was really frustrated). After Christmas i decided on a path and I'm sticking to it). After this I'm done modding......I may sell wheels to get something else and I know it will need a paint job next year but I'm starting to get antsy seeing it in pieces in garage. I have completely overhauled almost every aspect of the car. Seats, gauges, wheels, suspension, exhaust, engine, turbo, added some more look good parts.
I'm actually buying a motorcycle (which was really my first love that I never realized I had until first getting into them in my late 20's) before i finish building the Evo.
I'm more excited about finally getting a litre bike then finishing my car. I just want it to run reliably at this point and look good.
I know my wife will be happy I when I quit modding my car to this level.

its like any relationship, **** happens, you live and learn, move on, take a break, but eventually you will find out whats really important and be better off for the experience. it all works out in the end brotha, either way you got a sweeeeet DD evo street car. gl
Modding this car is definitely an addiction, glad to hear you're saving some change now.
Word of advice:
Stay out of the private for sale sections, sometimes the deals are just way to good to pass up!

I agree man. I've been down that road before too many times. Down time, thousands of dollars to get it make this and this horsepower, thousands more to fix the parts that break because of that horsepower, and then time and more money to try and put it back to stock-ish if you can! That's if you don't hate the car by then and just want to dump it at that point.
That's why I've sold my last mkiv supra...hated it at the end. I remember how much fun I had with it when it was stock/BPU (400whp) and everyday reliable too. I'told myself I would NOT F*** my EVO up with a bunch of parts to reach a whp goal. Good choice man. Hope you can get it back to where you feel good about the car again.
