To the Previous Owner...

I hope you get attacked by wild lions so you may never neglect and abuse another car again...

I have only owned this bone stock Evo 8 for 4 months and it has just been one thing after another. The trans and diff fluid were the first on the list and it looked horrible.

Next, I went on to do the timing belt since I doubt it was changed. To my surpirse it was... but the idiot couldn't line all the marks up correctly. The oil drive sprocket was out a few teeth and explained the poor performance at higher rpm's. Felt like an angry V-tec

The ratchet key hole on the acc belt tensioner was also broke so getting the belt off was impossible, not to mention the tensioner was seized up to begin with.

Not the previous owners fault but my front bearings went out at 85,000 and the struts need replacing as well. The rear caliper is beginning to stick and I suspect the brake fluid has never been changed. The infamous radiator fan control unit is crapping out and fortunately that falls under warranty, hey a silver lining.

All the console bulbs are burned out and the blower control resistor took a dump so no A/C this summer until I fix that. Thank god I can do my own work.

All and all, I expected alot more from this car. The motor and drivetrain is stout but the rest of the car seems to be cheap Chrysler junk. Any truth to that? I thought the whole car was built in Japan. I know alot of my problems are from neglect but seriously, whats next? I've thought about selling the car but I feel once all is corrected I should have a solid running vehicle.

That is all...

Wooo Shaaaa....breath in, breath out
There are car people and then there's the rest.
When you buy an EVO, your buying the Motor, Drivetrain, Brakes and suspension...the rest is a Lancer.

Sorry to hear that. Did the first owner assure you that the car is in excellent condition? Did you check the whole car before you bought it?

Not everything that happened/done to a car is reported to Carfax though.

Yea, but that means nothing these days. My fault for not checking the blower motor as it was winter and no need for A/C but the heat worked on setting 4 as a default of the bad resistor. The dash bulbs went un noticed since I purchased it in the day time.

I'm not to worried about those things as they are minor fixes in my eyes, just surprised as i've never had this stuff break in any other car i've owned. Of course i've never owned a Mitsu, always a Honda and Toyota guy. I'm really trying to save this car as I think it has potential...

if it has high miles, low priced and got it from an auction or dealer, it is not the previous owners fault. buyer always beware of used cars, evo esp. it can happen in a honda, a toyota, a lexus, etc. that is why it is better to buy private party from somebody you know or an evom member that you know took care of the car.

I know how you feel I purchased something like that too. Just not as worse. Still some things I'm trying to fix as well. Sorry for you, yes we should've checked the car out before purchasing. I guess we were just too excited to get the car. Best of luck, I might be trading mine in for X even tho I dislike the body style.
