2004 evo mr

Hey, I have recently got my self an EVO 8 MR. when reading into what evo I should buy I spoke to a few dealers and importers who told me that the evo 8 mr was only produced in 2004 but reading on this site I have seen quite a few 2005 MRs and not many 2004. It might just be there was a MR only in america for 2005. BTW im australian so my evo is JDM.

The JDM and USDM models are different cars. I've only had experience with JDM and NZDM cars before I registered with EvoM and I'm having to learn it all over again. I believe your 8 MR has mivec and I don't think (I could be wrong) the USDM 8 MR has mivec.

Yeh na mines not mivec thats just the 9 on im pretty sure, I just found it werid that they only made the mr in japan in 2004 yet there seems to many 2005 examples. not including the 9 mr but that dosent really count.

And heres some pics. stock when i bought it.

Funny, I've always thought the 8 mr was mivec. Probably cause Mitsi models here usually use the mr badge for their mivec models. Still learning aye.

USDM models are a different story to our local and JDM models. I've got a JDM 2005 EVO 9, and I haven't seen another 2005 9 on here so far. I also heard someone say there were only a couple thousand 2003 8s, but the majority of 8s in NZ seem to be 2003 so that might just be their USDM models.

Nice car, got plans for it?

Check your owners manual for the year, I have never heard of a 2005 evo 9

m00se, we got Evo 8 for the years 2003-2005 and the 9 for 2006.

I wouldn't be too quick to call it a fake, take your vin number to a Mitsi dealer and they should be able to confirm.

Yeh mines def not fake got it completly inspected and a history done when i bought it. Its when i was looking for my car people said to me " 8 MRs where only made in 2004 instead of making a limited number." wouldnt that make the american ones different being 2005?
I'm just guessing that the american MRs are in fact 2004 but sold in america in 2005 due to the few changes? again im just guessing

I've got the 6 speed manual, bit of a waste of time buying an auto evo I reckon, they also have quite a bit less power than the manuals. There's a handful of these here and I actually haven't seen the GTA auto yet, only the manual GTs.

The 05 MR here in the states were equipped with ACD which the 03-04 Evo was not.
