All the evo 8 models here have ACD there pretty much the same as the JDM a lil different. What are the differences between GSR and MR in america?

It's possible, if they were pre built and then had to make changes like left hand drive etc it would make sense. Or they could have built all the JDM, NZ, Aussie etc spec vehicles then made a completely separate run of USDM vehicles afterwards. The people you talked to probably would not have known about USDM run of vehicles.

Yeh that does sound right cos the USDM evos are a fair bit different( not as good lol) but that was to keep down the price to stay competative with the WRX I think. so a seperate run sound right.

Cheers guys

Mind you all the wagons were only released in Japan so whoever imported them to oz would have chosen the autos when they imported them. Mine was imported in 2005 with 50km, so practically new but still JDM.

Here's a rundown of US-spec Evo 8, 9's:

03 = Evo 8 GSR
04 = Evo 8 RS & GSR
05 = Evo 8 RS, GSR, & MR
06 = Evo 9 RS, GSR, & MR

03-04 = TD05HR-16G6-9.8T turbo, non-mivec, no front LSD, no ACD.
05 = TD05HR-16G6-10.5T turbo, non-mivec, front LSD, with ACD.
06 = TD05HR-16G6C-10.5T turbo, mivec, front LSD, & ACD

EVO 8s 22-28k, MR 8s 30-35k, 9s 30-35k and then 10s are like 55k+. All $NZD.

A good comparison would be to check out JDM RS vs USDM RS. That will show you just how different the models are.

nice car, i wanted an MR but they were out of my price range . you can easily spot a jdm mr by the aluminium roof which has 2 strakes down the sides. other mr differences are the bigger hotside, bigger intake cam, black head and tail lights, bilstein shocks and reprogrammed driveline software which gives priority to the ayc over abs if the brakes are applied mid turn (thank you Best Motoring International: Factory Fighters)
