Which Evo to build.

Hello there everyone, I have been away for awhile, been busy with work.
My question I have is I have a 60k budget on my next build due to a career change. What i am wanting to do is to build a high horsepower Evo. I am looking at going for the most horsepower on pump gas with methanol. I have no aimmediate access to E85 so its out of the question. I am only going to do minor upgrades with the brakes and suspension. i am not going to track the car it is going to be a daily driver so reliability is a big concern. Here are my questions.

1. Which platform Evo IX or Evo 10? If so which model Mr, Se, GSR?
2. Stroker or stay with the stock displacement?
3. Suggestion on Turbo sizing at 93 octane and methanol injection?

The goals of this build are to make this car quicker in acceleration from a dig or roll up to 120mph and from a 50mph to 150mph roll than a Nissan GTR with engine management, injectors, hardpipes, exhaust mid-pipe and down-pipe modifications. I am hoping that this is achievable.

I am figuring i will need to bring at least 550AWHP to the table and this is going to be from a low reading Mustang Dyno.

Any imput or suggestions from a person who has been there and done that would be greatly appreciated.

I would go with the IX SE. It is lighter than the X and if you put too much power into the IX MR the tranny could be a problem. With a budget of 60K you can pretty much do whatever the heck you want to do to it though. I wish I had your dilema.

I agree. This may sound biased coming from 2 guys who own a IX SE, but honestly its a good platform for a high hp build. The same could be said about any evo, but just look at how many high hp evo viii's and ix's are out there being daily driven without a single problem. Bottom line is, with a budget like that, you have the cash to do anything.

You can build a stroker for better off the line performance and it would definitely help spool a turbo,

Id recommend a bbk or hta green for a daily driven monster.

If you don't have access to e85, then I would strongly consider a high quality water/alcohol injection kit like Aquamist.

As far as your build, I would go with a stroker and a stock frame turbo like an FP Red or Black, or one of the new MAP turbos.

Or go a little farther and go to MAP! They have that new ef series turbo and their ef3 is rated at exactly what you want to make. That combined with their 2.3l stage 2 block and a stage 3 head would make for insane reliability and performance. I'd be there tomorrow of I had that money. They do spectacular work that's proven performance...my .02 cents

If you find an 8 in good shape, it's a great platform to start with.

1. IX MR, SE or GSR
2. Either will get you to where you wanna be (550 AWHP)
3. FP Red, MAP EF2 or 3, ATP GTX3076R on 93... add Meth for more if you prefer.

My .02c

With 60k for the budget I'd say you could build an 8,9, or an 10 however you want it. That's a pretty good chunk for that little power.
