RX7/240SX guy going EVO, Hello

Just wanted to say hi. I decided to create an account after surfing this site for the last couple of months (great info on the site btw). Like the title says, the last car i have owned in the last 3 years was the 1993 RX7. Just sold it and i miss it . Before that i had like 10 240sx's. I love the RWD platform, the rotary engines and the sr20's.

Anyways, The Evo 9 is what I am really interested in. Color preference is white, blue or black in that order. Looking for 350whp-400whp. I dont know why but having a 12sec, 4 door AWD, A/C blowing with all the features sounds like the car I want. Looking to spend no more than 25K.

I had a turbo rotary before I bought my Evo as well... you won't be disappointed going to an Evo. There are plenty of ways to reach 350-400 whp easily and 25k should be more than enough to get a clean Evo IX. Welcome to the site and good luck.

The insurance is going to be about 8x higher than the 240sx. It took my by surprise on my first Evo. As far as I know, it is at the top of the insurance symbol scale. (exotics, etc. are not on the chart).

Insurance costs aside, it's going to give you what you are looking for. Big time bang-for-the-buck. As you stated, all that, 4-doors, large back seat, drives on rails, all-conditions... Doesn't get much better than that.

Figure ~$17k for car, $2-3k for fixes, then you still have $5k to get it sorted and to 400whp. Good plan!

My insurance company told me the evo was on the list with the vette, so you are most likely right.

But depending on your age and other things the insurance might not but that bad. I pay $65.20 a month.

Corvettes are much cheaper to insure than Evo's. My 600 whp 2002 C5 that I had when I was 21 was about 60 bucks a month cheaper than my Evo at 25with the same coverages and driving record.

It might depend on the place you live and the company you use as well.

All I know is that is what my agent told me and he is local

At the same time I pay less than many evo owners and am happy with my rates.

Very true, my STI was less to insure than my Evo as well. My insurance agent said because there are more claims on Evo's and they are easier to steal. Who knows if she was bsing me but that is what Progressive claimed.

You will love the Evo. Nothing wrong with buying an 8 if you can't find a 9. ....well, actually they're both hard to find.

240's and Evo's are two different animals, but in good ways. It will take time getting used to, but you won't go back. Trust me.

Definitely pick up an evo. You wont regret it! I sold my modded GTI and have never looked back. The evo puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

Welcome! You'll love the Evo if you get one. Take your time and scope out a nice clean one. Also, more like an 11sec 4 door awd with ac.

My finace thought i was going to be depressed selling the RX7. She now notices me smiling just looking for an EVO.

I am curious how much insurance will run....I dont think it will be that bad since ill be hitting 30 soon and my record is clean for the most part...i have like three equipment violations (2 no front plates, and illegal exhaust (i have no idea how i got that one, look at the pic and it is the quitest exhaust ever.))

I noticed some EVO's with similar side skirts like the FEED ones that i have on my RX7. Simple and much better looking than a body kit. Anyways I will keep looking and doing my due diligence.

ohhh I love rx-7's.
As everyone has stated welcome and good luck on your search.

My best friend is a huge Nissan guy, hes had 2-3 240's with sr-20 and right now hes building a 300zx with a rb25 swap.
I let him drive my car and he now regrets not buying an EVO when he had the chance to.

So I don't think you will be disappointed.

GOODLUCK
