Mild build on Evo 9, Will I need injectors?

I'm sourcing all my parts first, and getting everything installed and tuned at the same time to reduce my downtime. I want to get opinions here on whether or not I'm going to need injectors.

Here is what I currently have already, or will have within a week or so:

AMS TBE
Megan o2 housing
Cosworth 272 Cams
ARP head studs
K&N Drop in
ETS LICP
ETS FMIC
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump

This will go in a bone stock '06 Evo MR. This will probably be it this year for go fast mods.

Eventually I want to do an HTA green and retune to shoot for 400whp on pump gas. I'm not planning on ever running corn. Should I get injectors now or wait? Anything I'm missing?

I was mid 90% for IDC at only 350whp, so I would suggest injectors. Something around 1000ccs so when you do upgrade to the FP Green you won't have to worry about injectors then...

Might as well get the injectors. May I suggest a cone filter instead of a drop in? Also, why do you not want to run e85? I hear once you go corn you won't want to switch back to pump

I would def go with some 1000cc, gives you room to work and you always have the option to upgrade or go with different fuels. If you look on the for sell forum you can find some injectors for cheap.

Yep, thinking I'm going to start looking for injectors then. I just contacted a guy locally that had 850s for sale for cheap, but I may pass them up for 1000's instead.

As far as an intake goes, from what I read, it doesn't make much difference power-wise. I was intending to dremel out the stock airbox for a stock-ish look.

With E85, I'm a little concerned with driveability here in Chicago's sometimes nasty winters, and the fact that there are no E85 gas stations on route with my daily commute.

if you wish to keep a stockish look i would still go for a cone filter inside a hacked air box. gst & other cali ppl do this. over 350hp a stock air box will become a restriction and will give your turbo a hard time.

Another option is to use the OMG filter from Speed Element and install it right inside the stock airbox. The airbox needs to be modded by having the bottom (and part if its sides) cut out. This way, the engine bay looks factory, the airbox keeps its factory mounting points, and you still get the benefits of an open-element filter with the OEM snorkel, albeit with decreased noise. FWIW, that's what I have. Good luck.

I liked the airbox mod, I used it for a while with a small K&N filter & maf adapter I got from AMS. It was easy to hack up the stock airbox and works great with the top snorkel still hooked up.

Those 850's will be fine for the whp that you are trying to accomplish now. However those plans may change down the road. I was one of those people that I said I would never run E85 so I got 780's. I was seeing a lot of failures from meth and without doing research I figured E85 would be just as dangerous. Shame on me because now I see the light. Now I have 1450's and if I knew then what I know now I wouldve never bought anyting smaller than 1200cc.

If E85 isnt available in your area then shoot for 1200's. If it is available I'd suggest 1450's. Dont rule out ever wanting to try it if its out there.

Another option is to try out the FIC 1100 Hi-Zs. I'm using them on corn with my GSX and should have enough injector for 125 mph traps which is a pretty wicked street car. They idle like stock and have very good linearity for smooth cruising around. Just my $.02.

Thought about it, but don't think I'm going to be raising the redline even with the HTA Green. I realize the cams are fairly aggressive compared to other 272s out there, but there are plenty of folks who have these cams on the stock valvetrain + stockish rev limiter and they run just fine.

There alot of people that stay with the stock springs so it should be fine. When i did my Cosworth 272 cams i did the springs too just for the peace of mind.

You might as well do the valve springs, you'll kick yourself in the *** later on if you don't It's not just upping the rev limit that matters when running the higher lift cams, boost pressure also plays a role in it. You should always mod for reliability. It will save future headaches. With the injectors it is best to get more injector than you think you need so you never have to replace them in the future.
