WORKS makes awesome and extremely high quality stuff. They're all about understanding why the OEM stuff is designed the way that it is, and then making improvements that stay true to the original characteristics of the car. That's much too logical for the average Evo owner- who is all about having exactly what everyone else tells them they need.

You want to know more about WORKS, go to the bay area evo site (www.evoempire.org) where they have actual experience with them.

Their prices are high for their products. I have had mixed feelings about them and their products. I have met and talked to some of their customers who have had work done and been happy. I went to WORKS a while ago to talk and check out their shop.I will say they were really cool guys down there. A lot of evo owners in this area bash that shop for whatever reasons, some have had bad experiences. I say talk to them before you make judgment.
It is a major inconvenience when you go to their shop because they are located inside Infineon Raceway, so when there are events you have to pay to get in, then go to the office to get refunded on the way out.
They dont really come to the boards and give the support like other shops do, a shame considering the price of their products. I would much rather support vendors that are active on here; ETS, Buschur, MAP, in no paticular order.

I have the works grab shift knob and love it. I will probably buythe short shifter later down the line and the base bushings.

I like my Works shift knob. Does that count?

But I will have to agree that their prices are higher than most things. Like this DV from them:
http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...roducts_id=265

$270 can buy you something that works well too like a Forge DV for Evos and/or Synchronic bov or even a Tial.
And how bout this O2 housing?
http://www.worksevo.com/store/produc...roducts_id=605
$600 and it's yours.

I get the feeling people have the same opinion of WORKS as they do for ARC. They make nice products that are very pricey that you can get from other manufacturers for much cheaper. It all depends on what you're going for and personal preference at the end of the day.

Your question is somewhat difficult to answer without writing a novel. I think the easiest way for me to try is by explaining why I chose WORKS as my tuner. Firstly, before I start talking about mods, I want to talk about the Evo. I'll start first with my automotive background. My first 5 cars were Honda Civic Hatchback's. 4 EK's, & 1 EP3. I considered myself a die-hard Honda-only fan for life! In my line of work, I have driven probably hundreds of different car models ranging from 60's muscle cars to the newest Ferrari's & most everything in between. There were cars I liked, others I hated. But even among the ones I would've liked to own, there wasn't one I would have bought as a replacement for my beloved Hatchies....until the day I drove my Evo. It took my satisfaction level of driving an automobile to completely new heights! Every car model has a very unique feel to it - call it soul, if you will. Every part on a car, every aspect of it, as everything works together in harmony deliver the driver such a unique driving experience, even 2 Evo's will feel slightly different, not to mention different car models! I fell in love with the feeling I experience while driving an Evo. I've always been a ***** for driving. I can never get enough of it. But when I drive my wifes TL for example, I still enjoy driving, but the driving doesn't deliver the same satisfaction it does while driving my Evo. If you haven't gotten it yet, my point is that the feeling of driving satisfaction given by an Evo is something all of us are familiar with, & all love. Here is where the tuning part comes in, & where the tuners split into different categories. I'll discuss 2 of them. First, the one I place myself in.

My personal tuning philosophy is forged by the love I have for the driving experience that Evo's provide. All the mods I have done & will do on my Evo are based on two
basic principles that are tied to each other & grounded in that love of the Evo
experience. 1). How can I take what Mitsubishi has accomplished with this car from a
mechanical standpoint, without discarding anything mindlessly - rather build & improve
upon it? 2). Any modification made is with the intent to ELEVATE that said Evo experience, & no mod should ever compromise it! If the compromise is for the sake of more ultimate power or what-not; if the mod will change the nature of the vehicle to not feel quite like an Evo anymore, i will not do it!

The second group of tuners I want to discuss can be described by the following: These
are the folks that realize the accomplishments of the Evo in stock form, & the potential
capabilities that can be achieved with this model. Any & all mods done are for the sake
of achieving everything ultimate: max power, max handling, max grip, max braking, max everything. They take the formula Mitsubishi has come up with over so many
generations of the Evo, sweep everything off the table, & throw together a cocktail mix
of parts from tuners the globe over. The end result never being the goal of preserving
the very nature & soul of the Evo & improving it's ability to communicate it more powerfully to the driver. I am not referring to dedicated race cars here. Obviously in racing, ultimate is everything. Preservation of the vehicles soul is one of the first casualties on a race car when one is striving to maximize the capabilities of a particular chassis to the utmost extreme. Those cars have their place. My critique is of street tuned Evo's.

I realize these points can be argued, & everyone has different expectations/goals for their cars.. These are mine, & this approach is what I believe has helped/will help achieve my tuning philosophy through the use of WORKS parts. But getting back to the OP's question, I chose WORKS for this reason: No, the parts they sell won't always give you maximum power. What their company offers is parts that are an upgrade over the original component that not only elevate the performance the original provided, it maintains or increases the reliability of it, & almost more importantly, helps elevate that unique feeling an Evo possesses. I am also a firm believer in using parts from the same tuner in every aspect of the vehicle: engine, drivetrain, suspension, brakes, etc.. After all, those parts were designed to complement & support each other. Which in turn will have an impact on what the finished build will feel like.

Lastly, which will help explain why pretty few members here go with WORKS, is cost. It's a pretty big factor. Most tuners from group 2 have that one main goal in mind - maximize everything! They want that 500-600HP beast! The cheaper you pay for some of the parts & the build as a whole, the more parts you can buy, the sooner you can achieve that goal. WORKS parts are not very cheap if you haven't seen their site. People still have to admit though that the old rule is a simple truth - what you pay for is what you get!

In conclusion, to those of you who are doing builds & fit the description of group #2.. Am I saying that you're doing it wrong? Absolutely not! I'm proud of what some of you have accomplished with your cars! It is truely spectacular to see the results achieved with your Evo's! I simply wanted to share why I chose WORKS, my personal tuning philosophy, & how WORKS' parts have helped me achieve that, & have performed flawlessly the last 80,000+ miles I've used them.

I agree with WW-GSR, I've been in the scene for awhile, and yes Im just getting started with my first evo, I have worked on several for my friends. You get what you pay for and with works, it couldn't be more true. And their customer service is spot on!
