I started using their air filter several months after I had a tune done, and haven't had any problems.

As far as single actions go, a tune is best for power with bettered drivability as a bonus. A filter, alone, ain't gonna do sh/t except make noise. That's the best case scenario.

If you'd like to share what you're modding for, I'm sure the more experienced folks can make some relevant suggestions.

I called and talked to them before I bought mine (didn't know if I should install it at home, or at the shop) and they said to run it and that they designed it to be able to run it without needing a tune and not having any issues.

I didn't notice any difference in driveability after I install it, though you could hear the turbo spool and the intake breathe more

Short answer: no it won't affect anything

Did you buy the entire kit? Or just the filter?

Well im just trying to go BPU for now. Its a fairly stock car with a tbe and a bov. Im trying to do addons slowly but nothing major. Im new to tuning. What is the best way to get a tune? Will this require me to get a data logger? Or will I need to go to a dyno? Ive also heard about email flashes. DO these work well?

I have this intake on my MR and have not had one problem running with it. All I have is a catback and the Perrin intake. You should be fine.

On a IX, all you need is a MBC, a tune and a TBE (optional), assuming one has the stock DV. A fuel pump isn't really necessary at this level. On a VIII, sure. A IX, not so much.

The best way to get a tune is to employ an individual who you can work with, and who takes the time to understand your needs tuning accordingly. Personally, I prefer a dyno tune (Mustang, ie. load-bearing) with a few tweaks done on the street, but much will depend on the availability of services in your area. An email tune will require you to log the car, necessitating the purchase of a Tactrix cable and the use of an appropriately configured laptop. Then, you'll have to run WOT on the street per the tuner's recommendations, shoot the logs to him, upload a revised tune, log again and so on. Not everyone is comfortable with this.

x2. No problems here and I just recently cleaned the filter. You can see the Perrin lettering on the filter again.
