Stock launch control

Just got an evo 9 mr and I have heard they come with a stock rev control around 5k. My car revs to redline when sitting still clutch all the way out and in. Does anyone know why?

the car needs to be completely still, pull the handbrake even. THen put the gas pedal to the floor, it should stop at around 5k.... if it doesn't, then the car has been tuned and the rev limiter raised/removed.

mmm I don't think it has to be in, but then again I have a JDM 9, so maybe USDM is different, just do it with the cluth in, handbrake, and gas to the floor, it should work.

Be careful launching. I did it according to how I read: rev to rev limiter, let rpms drop back to 3-4K rpms, let clutch out until you feel it start to catch, release clutch and apply throttle. I did three launches and a couple days later the car is in the shop getting a new ACT Street clutch with resurfaced fly wheel (in the shop now). I'd say I did something wrong...LMAO

If you've never done it I'd recommend riding along with someone who has or have the money ($1200 or so) for a new clutch. I've done it plenty of times on gravel, but on tarmac you obviously don't get the wheel spin like gravel.

For what it's worth....it sure was fun!!

you dont have to floor it completely. I'd hold it steady til it reaches around 5,000 and see if it bounces off.

Yeah has to be in gear. Also don't just floor it, let the revs gradually climb

remove the restrictor before you even think about launching it.

^ are you saying that number 6 and 7 is restricting fluid pressure to the slave?

No, it reduces or delays the release of pressure from the slave and makes the clutch sliiiiiiiide and burn.
