anyone ever take apart a forge wg please help!

Over the past half year I've been having reoccuring boost problems. Every so often my forge wg would loose its tension and I would have to re tighten the preload. I finally ran out of threads and figured it was time for a rebuild. I received the parts today and was surprised to find the kit contains no spring. My wg is a piston type forge actuator. I tried to take it off and take it apart but did not have the right size allen wrench so I put it back on for now until I can get one. When I did and went to put the arm on the flapper, it was way too short and I had to adjust it way back out to get it on. My first question is does the piston type have a spring inside and if so did they just not supply it with the rebuild? My second question is why when I put it back on it suddenly needed to be adjusted way back out when before I had to remove the lock nut just to have more threads to supply tension? Im scratching my head on this one and need help. I don't want to take it apart and rebuild it if it doesn't need it for the risk of screwing it up more.
