A/C compressor...

A couple of days ago my A/C compressor pulley had failed... I never use A/C and i was just wondering if it would be smarter to buy a by-pass kit rather than another compressor...

If it is just the compressor clutch, sometimes they are almost as much as a new compressor. I'm sure you can find someone on the forums doing a part-out and has an A/C compressor for sale. It's really all up to how much you want to spend and whether you really want to keep the A/C in the car.

Yea, sounds like the compressor clutch is shot, sometimes they will almost blow apart and seize up.

Whether the compressor is engaged or not, the pulley still spins. Only when you turn the A/C on does the clutch engage and drive the compressor.

sounds like clutch is gone. It should enguage if there is some r134 in there. Have that checked first and they could inject die in the system if it is really low
