Well, as I said in one post, anyone with a WRX almost certainly has insurance on the WRX. That is where the payment should come from. When dealing with that insurance company it is important to also be aware of and make them know you expect to recover for "diminished value". No matter how good the repair it is going to show up as a wrecked vehicle from now on. The only way to maybe get around that is to pay cash and not involve any insurance company.

The problem with cash is you won't recover for diminished value in all likelihood. If the repair shop bills $x,000 and your friend pays $x,000 out of his pocket you have a repaired wreck. If you go to a dealer to trade in, they will use a paint gauge on it and know it's been painted. Then they'll look and see it was wrecked. If you use his insurance you can force them to pay an extra amount to make up the loss of value.

You may want to go to your insurance agent for advice and assistance on that when you deal with the other company.

And next time think about leaving your car locked in the garage and taking a taxi both ways. You don't risk problems with friends and you have deeper pockets to fall back on if there's a problem with the ride.

sorry to hear about the bad news, you did the right thing for not driving and handing over the keys and **** happens....a lesson learned, don't let anyone drive your evo, my wife doesn't even drive mine. I would only let my friends with evo's drive it b/c they can handle it and if they wreck I'm taking their car as even payment. Hope it all works out man.

That was like 2 years ago. You must of gone out of your way to find a thread that old just to bump it.
