No offense but it seems to me that this is another example of the recent wave of evo owners that get the car and then realize they can't afford it, so they try hard and try to rationalize keeping it by modding in way that would save them moneywhich it is seriously for the lack of better word retarded. This car is a high performance vehicle which means higher cost of ownership. Most people that switch to e-85 do it for the performance you get out of it OP hope you dont take offense to this but it's just my observation based on a lot of threads on here that go along the same line of i need to do something to keep my EVO.

the dude doesnt even have enough money to fill his car up on premium, let alone spend thousands on this set-up.

if you cant afford premium fuel, what makes you think you can afford e-85? yea its cheaper per gallon, but you will run through it a lot faster then gasoline, so your gonna be spending more money

OP.... you will not gain any savings on gas price by switching to e-85 over 93. I have been reasearching the switch myself and it comes out be almost identical cost per month to operate the car (it is my dd). I currently have averaged, over the last few months, 26mpg. With e-85 I would roughly get 19mpg. With the current gas prices in my area, $3.69 for 93 and $3.18 for e-85, e-85 would cost me about $20 more a month to run.

Plus..... you'd have the up front cost of a fuel pump, injectors, and a tune.

Like already stated if you're worried about cost and squeezing every dime out of this car..... you may want to reconsider your purchase.

This should be posted on Ecomodders or something. You can get amazing gas mileage on an Evo, but you sacrifice all performance.

I wouldn't say you sacrifice performance, it's all a trade-off. The contributing factor to gas milage really comes down to is driving habits (a good tune helps too). I have found a way to modify my habits to consistently attain 26mpg, soon I am going to see if I can consistently get 27 starting next month.

Performance doesn't just come down to power either. I would much rather have a vehicle that is very nibble and responds to inputs quickly than to have a hammer for a gas pedal and can't turn well (I know others love the mass power, I secretly do too).

At my lower power level it get great gas milage and can still trap 140mph at the end of the back straight @ Road Atlanta. I'd say that's still pretty good performance .

sure the setup cost allot but thats why u save up and with this system u do not have to retune to switch from e85 to 93 so he can run 93 or 91 and when he has the money he can run e85

This couldn't be put any simpler. Wanna cut fuel costs?: get something that doesn't require premium fuel and has around 100hp (non-vtec/i-vtec honda for example)
