Emission Laws? Moving from Texas up to Cali
Emission Laws in Cali? Moving up from Texas
Thinking about moving up to San Francisco. In Texas you can drive all day with no cat. I have cams and bolt ons. If I put a cat back on, get a retune, will I get hassled by police? I know emission laws up there are really strict.
Also, any comments on life in San Francisco in general are welcome. Just graduated college, still have student loans, evo paid off. I want to slap a roof rack on the evo, drive up to Tahoe and go snowboarding every other weekend. Just found out a couple weeks ago you can snowboard in the summer. WTF is that ****?!?!?! Awsome... lol.
Thanks in advance.

It all depends on how you drive. Some people with full 3" exhaust systems with an EWG (IE: my friend in his WRX lol) drive around and the cops don't bat an eye while some with stock cars are pulled over. Also depends on where you live in CA, as the police hate tends to vary haha
Besides passing the sniffer, anything visible i.e. Aftermarket manifold, BOV , etc.. Will fail on the visual inspection. Not all the smog shops are super strict on visual stuff, but you'll need your cat for sure. Once you get up there, Norcalevo people can point you to some smog shops.
Sanfran is really expensive. It's a beautiful city, and always things to do. And the girls up there are Really cute! It does rain a lot , and it can get cold. It's cool to drive up north past the golden gate bridge into Marin county. There are lots of winding roads, and you will see more Ferrari, porsches and any other exotic you can think of when the weather is good.
