OK.. I finally got a black one today (31st)... so glad that i'm part of the evo family now muhahahahaha.....

Few mod question i want to ask...

Which intake to choose? (I know it has been ask many times, but i really wanna know what's good now)

I'll post a review on a _ton_ of Works gear sometime shortly after I get my car back on Jan 5th.

Keep an eye out. So far their customer service has been incredible and their modding philosophy makes sense to me.

I guess I'll go ahead and say it... most people seem to agree that the stock airbox is pretty good, at least with the stock exhaust. If you're not going to do many modifications and aren't looking to make the BOV louder maybe just a better air filter would suit you best.

However, I figured if I was going to "open up" the exhaust, I might as well do the intake too. If you do decide to add an intake, you'll probably want something to manage the fuel with all that fresh air. I myself am going with Buschur's stage 1 parts (3" turbo-back and intake) with a mail-in Dynoflash.

Congrats on your Evo and good luck with your choice of mods.

the reason i want to change the intake is for the sound... hehehe.... i know about buschur's stage 1 parts.. but i'm afraid to install the safc myself.... is that hard to install????

One more important question on the buschur's stage 1... after i install it.. will it pass the emission(sp?) in california? or everytime i do the smoke check i need to replace it with stock stuff??

Yes there is many things on the market to purchase from. I would start with either a Dynoflash or XEDE or any others on the market, quick simple. painless. ... excellent power for price. intake is not as necessary, perhaps avoid that unless you want the noise or want to waste some cash. exhaust would be the next big thing your car needs than most of the other stuff is up to you young padawan ..... the car itself is fun stock. but toys ... do add a little flava.

Changing the intake for the sound is a very bad idea..... Intakes can often cause a host of problems if they are not chosen or installed properly.
If you want performance increases, you can get a hell of a deal from Al who's selling a mail order Dynoflash for $225 (I think) and is throwing in an intake that works!
That's an unbeatable deal. You can also install the HKS intake and Al has a Dynoflash map that works great with that unit. It also makes lots of power
Of course, if money is no object and you want to have Vishnu stuff, you can probably get almost the equivalent to the Dynoflash for a lot more $$

As for the SAFC, it is not hard to install, but you should use a harness to avoid cutting the factory wires. Also, the SAFC might not give you any gains at all even if you use somebody's settings that work for them. All cars are different..... There is no substitute for a custom tune done to your particular car.

If you want the sound, why not go with something like Works Vent Dual Valve? It's a hybrid BOV that's fully variable from VTA to recirc so you don't get the stall issues but still get the sound.

On the Evo, the very first mod should be an upgraded DP and exhaust...I would recommend the RMR or the HKS Hi-Power. Then get some 264 cams and a Dynoflash. This should put you over 300WHP and well into the 12s at the drag strip.
