stupid topic

Ok just got my car back from getting tuned, tuner said he couldnt get my car to boost over 18psi even with the boost controller turned all the way up. My guess is bad waste gate actuator? Anyone else have any input.

I just hit 300whp with intake, turbo back, 272 cams fuel pump and boost controller. A friend has the grimspeed electric boost controller that i am going to ask if he wants to use that insted of my halman.

but im stumped on what it could be

Did you do a boost leak test before having the car tuned?

Boost leak
Vaccuum leak
w/g stuck open
weak w/g spring
turbine failure
Blocked exhaust/cats
faulty boost controller

It could be any of those things. Good luck sorting it out. I'd start w/ swapping your boost controller for your friends, since that'd be easy.

yes i did, and replaced the throttle body shaft seals, other than that only a small leak from the map sensor. I need to replace the o2 sensor on the ow housing, caused the tuner to go nuts. made all kinds of weird readings until about an hour of driving. then everything gets normal and reads fine

ok, so i replaced the waste gate actuator that didnt do it.

I pulled the vacuum line off of the actuator nipple and it boosted well over 20, so would that be a bum boost controller?

What Spring do you have in your MBC? That could be your issue.

Ok to keep everyone updated. I replaced the wastegate actuator, still the same thing. I have a new boost controller coming in the mail.

But i also noticed that if i let my car sit for about a day then start it i get some white smoke from the exhaust. If i drive the car it will go away. its only when its cold and warming up.

Coolant level seems good car doesnt get hot. Oil is fresh and full. Changed it 3 or 4 weeks ago and there was no mix of coolant in the oil. The turbo still spools fine right up to 18 then brick walls there. If i pull the line off the wastegate it will boost over 20 with no problem. So i dont think its the turbo.

Im running a catless turbo back if that has anything to do with it. i will be replacing the front 02 sensor as well as soon as it comes in...told that was causing my air/fuel to go all crazy like i am seeing.

Ok so tonight i added my grimmspeed MBC, ebay o2 housing, new o2 sensor, new wastegate actuator, and front motor mount for shats and giggles... as soon as i get the donut gasket for the downpipe i can throw it all back together and give it a test drive and hopefully i can build over 18psi. And my wide band reading will be normal again.
