2006 Evolution winning sound

Around 40-50 m.p.h. my car starts to make a loud winning sound. Trying to figure out if this is normal, car has almost 66k.

Clanking problem on my 2006 Evolution

When I am going at extremely low speeds and turning my car sometimes starts making a clanking sound. I was wondering if any of you have run into this problem. Thank!

Whining? or winning? The Evo always sounds like a winner to me =)

Must be your transfer case if it's whining.

I would check your CV joints if your getting a clanking/clicking noise while turning.

I have the same problems as you slight whining from 40-50 and it gets loud as hell from 50-up, and clanking/popping noise from the front when i turn sharp at low speeds.

I took it to the Mitsubishi dealer near me and i was told by the tech that the whining is coming from the transfer case(i figured that) but he also said the clanking was being caused by the transfer case too. I questioned the clanking being caused by the tcase and he said he was 99% sure it was the cause.

I also heard this same noise on a few Evos 9s that I test drove... I assumed it was the transfer case also and thought it was normal since it I heard it on all of them. good info

oh my! i have a slight whine up till 30 MPH but gone after that. but in your case, your Transfer Case is bad. hopefully gone after fluid change, but if not you're up for expensive repair. good luck brother
