Compressor Surge happens when your BOV doesn't open enough to let out the back pressure -- that means the spring in your BOV isn't the right one (you probably need a weaker spring). If you're not running a BOV, well then, that'll do it too.

If you're talking boost spikes ... they're more likely if you're runing an IWG setup -- you should get an electronic boost controller (like one that GrimmSpeed sells) and make sure your tuner knows what they're doing. They should be able to control it better. Or run a hybrid setup with a MBC.

I hope your joking cuz compressor surge under WOT has evverything to do with your bov. The bov is specifically there, in a turbo systems design, to prevent compressor surge lol. Its not for looks or sounds its wat prevents compressor surge.

A bov is to prevent surge when the throttle plate closes during a shift. Running a TiaL bov, that valve will be closed through out a WOT pull. That will have no effect on surge during spool up and full boost.

This type of surge happens because the wastegate is not allowing enough exhaust pressure out once target boost is reached.

And if you think it prevents it and it is intended to be there, care to explain about cars that do not have a bov in the system at all? Specifically Grand Nationals and the turbo 2.3 from Ford in their Thunderbird/Cougar and Mustangs?

Nope. Not joking. When you are at WOT, the BOV should be closed, period. This thread does not relate to surge upon lift off.

agree with u evo8LTW , my tuner believes its because of the stock cams on this build, there just a big bottle neck. Honestly the car runs really well and i'm very happy with it its only under the certain conditions that i will get this surge and I know how to drive the car around it I was just curious if others had the same issue and from one of the post the way he described it the cams should make quite a difference. I appreciate all the input very much from everyone and when I can swing the money for the upgrade I will post on how it affected everything. I trade in the stock market so right now my money is tied up and having a girl friend and some medical bills and other random things pop up it has delayed me from the upgrade. Here is a video of me taking my mom for a cruise u can tell the car is totally surge free when high enough rpm. Near the end of the video i was still in 3rd and I slowly got the rpm up and then punched it to get past that surge point this was also on a flat road so it made it easier to get around it , she had no idea what she was in for : )
