Daily Driver Evos
If you haven't seen this thread, it's a good read. He's currently at 251,000 on his daily driven EVO. The key is regular maintenance! https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...000-miles.html
I've driven mine 50+ miles everyday for over 2 years, 2nd owner, and haven't had a single issue. Just had the clutch replaced (stock clutch made it 75,000 with almost 400 AWHP).

I daily mine at LEAST 44 miles a day... The car is so fun, So I'm always down to drive it somewhere...
car has roughly 360hp to the wheels
Just got mine a few months ago, completely bone stock 05 MR. Had to do the 60k service to it as the previous owner turned it into the dealer before having that work done. Clutch was slipping as well so that was replaced. Car has 68k miles on it, and besides the regular maintenance that needed to be done, so far, it has been great.
DD it around 30-40 miles a day, and love it. Wouldn't trade it for anything out there right now, the car is so much fun to drive.

I bought my EVO 9 with 11,000 miles... I drive it everyday to school and back (60 miles round trip) and everywhere inbetween, driven it on a 4 hour trip to NH, and also a 12 hour drive to maryland (one way) and it has NEVER failed me. Ive never been stuck with it. These cars are VERY reliable if you keep up with maintenence. I now have 69,500k on it and i dont regret one mile.
Reliability isnt an issue with these cars.

Yes, I do, LOL. Surprising it gets 19-21 MPG on E85.
To the OP: I drive my car a lot. I think it is comfortable enough for DD, but I am a small guy(or at least that's what my wife tells me)

Maintenance would be key. Again,I'm still on my original trans, TC, and rear.
Good luck.

You're my hero. I thought every 3-4days sucked... Well... not sucked... but isnt the best for my bank, I dont regret one mile in my Evo. Every mile is a BLAST
lets see i bought mine in august 07, 03 with 39k mine was a repod. I picked it up for 22k out the door. Overall, its been fun but i have broken stuff since now with it at 84k, couple clutches, maintenance items, an engine build a bigger turbo, its a crap shoot most of em will last a long time, just dont buy a heavily modded evo, ur buyin someone elses headache. Stock, or intake/catback tops only haha....good luck, once u go awd youll never go back to fwd haha
Daily driven mine for the past 6 years without a hitch (71K miles). Well..had to replace a leaking radiator 2 months ago, but other than that, everything that I have replaced was either as an upgrade or a wear item (brakes, belts, clutch).
Ive never owned a more reliable car...*knocks on wood*
I bought the car with 33k miles on it and it now has nearly 97k....I run e85 all the time, drive an hour to, and an hour back from work daily...I dynoed 450awhp at 27psi and run 31psi whenever I got out to have some fun on the highway from time to time....
I DO live by some smart standards though...Ive taken the car to the track, twice ever...I NEVER launch it hard, and I NEVER powershift or shift fast at all really....i also NEVER rev past the stock rev limit and NNNEEVVVVEERR boost in 5th , EVER. I ran a 12.3 @ 117mph with a 2.1 sixty foot at the track with my most recent setup...the car has ran GREAT though....a/c is cold, smooth shifting, etc etc....I have replaced the clutch twice but once was because I purchased an exedy twin carbon/carbon and those clutches DO NOT like daily driving at all..lol...back to a regular creamic exedy twin clutch now.

Quick question for yall
planning on getting an evo from a dealership soon, I have been on and of with it nearly 3 times because of pricing. This time I just don't care and I will be getting it. plan on payng it off in 2-3 years
It will be my daily for a couple years and I built a turbo lancer and had that car for nearly 4 years and the only issue I had was the clutch boosting 17 pounds.
Will I have alot more issues with parts breaking if I drive it decent? I will be on it maybe like once in awhile but she won't be touching the track until its paid off. Just need to kow before I make a decesion "I know how to install my own parts"
what issues have yall seen being it your daily driver?

If you wait long enough, you can find good deals from dealerships. It all depends really, I found mine at a ford dealer that was taken on trade in. They had been sitting on it for a few months, so wanted to get rid of it. I ended up talking them down to 17k for a 05 MR with ~65k miles. Single owner vehicle, guy was in his late 50's when he bought it. Took great care of it (from what I can see atleast.)
I daily drive mine. I bought it almost 2 years ago with 32k on it and it's now up to 73k. No issues at all. Just be sure to keep up with the scheduled maintenance. The only thing I don't like about driving my car everyday is that it has a small gas tank and I have to get gas 3 times a week on average.
