Alright, it's about time! You had better post pics when you get the car. Good to see another, now formerly fellow, MS3 owner making the switch to the awesome side.

UPDATE: Drove 5 and a half hours to look at it. Took it to P&L Motorsports cause AMS was booked. They did a compression test cyclinders read #1 170 #2 160 #3 145 #4 165.

So needless to say everyone at the shop told me to walk away from it even the owner. Called AMS they said the same thing. Obviously I knew this with compression being terribly low in cylinder 3. AMS said it would probably need to be rebuilt right away. The car was for sale for $19,900 with 60k in it. Was fairly modded but I told em unless they could fix the engine before I bought it or give me 4k off the price he said they can't do that so I walked out...

Sucks hardcore cause it was def fast! Cammed, TBE etc but I'm glad I did. That electric blue wad sexy but I'll find another one no worries! Plus I'll have more money saved up and get a MUCH nicer one. Driving back 5 and a half hours home empty handed

Sorry to Hear about that man. Was looking forward to some new pics in the thread. Im from the chicago area and was curious to see if this car is at a dealer or private seller? Maybe I know the dealer and seen the car before or something. Good luck on your search man, another one will pop up for sure! Just take your time

It's at The Import Auto Gallery in Addison, IL. Really hope no one buys that car without getting the compression test. They'll be in got trouble. Yea man I'll find another one I know there's Evo's everywhere just hoping I can find one with good compression! Lol

Thanks for the words of support like I said I'm sad cause that electric blue is gorgeous but for almost 20k and a bad motor def wasn't worth it

I know that dealer ill take a look on the website and check out the car. Thats good you did a compression check man cuz you never know. Cylinder 3 was def too low which is def signs of an issue.

Evos are still all over the place for sale. You will find one no problem. EB is one of my favorite colors also so i can see why u wanted that car lol But if u would have bought it there would have been headaches. Good luck man!

Good move getting the compression checked, it would be no fun to buy an Evo thinking it was fine and then the engine goes in a couple weeks. Keep searching man, you will find a good one in time!

Good call walking away... but $4k off?

I thought you could get a short block from Mitsu for ~$2k?

Now that is a shame to hear, but you dodged a bullet. Sounds like the dealer has too much vested in the vehicle or they're just too cheap to put a new motor in it, since I doubt they would actually pay $4k for a new motor.

The search continues! <--- Best therapy when EVO shopping.

I'm assuming he factored in labor and odds and ends along the way.

Thanks wish I could've gotten the car if it was actually in good shape. Damn people beating this **** out of their cars and not taking care of em!

Exactly. Cost me about $200 round trip but saved me thousands so I'm "ok" with it lol. Wish I could've drive an Evo home though that's for sure!

Ugggh I know man! I was pissed at first! But glad I walked away. There's also a silver lining to the story. A guy who's been looking at my car since I posted it online is 80% he said gonna sell his car tomorrow and he wants my car without a doubt! Hopefully it works out cause there's a couple Evo's around me that I gotta go check out. Gonna compression test though for sure! Lol

Yea P&L Motorsports was saying probably around 4k for a full rebuild. **** if I was gonna rebuild anyway I'd probably get a 2.3l kit and just do it right then and there. Unfortunately just wasnt in good enough shape to warrant the cost. Oh well I'll save more money and find another That electric blue is so damn sexy though ill probably save money and paint whichever Evo I get that color no joke! Was a gorgeous car at least
