Fwiw... I purchased an EVO with a partially cut stock antenna. I wanted the shorty anyway, but I figured instead of just paying the $20 or so, since my stocker was already ruined... I just cut it down (properly) to the nub (so it looks like a perrin now) and sealed the end with nail polish.

I'm sure you could EASILY make it more "proper" than that... but thats how I've had it... no complaints.

Yeah I was kinda cheap myself. When I first got my Evo my wife was driving a Honda Fit that had a nice stumpy antenna. Needless to say, the Fit looked like a remote controlled car when I was done with it.

I wasn't trying to be cheap... but I figured since the stocker was ruined anyway, I would finish the job and if the reception sucked (it seems about what it should be with a shorty) I'd just buy a new stocker.

Either way...

Also I know SOME of the shorty's (I think it was just the S2K ones) don't screw all the way in without cutting the screw... so heads up. Though I thought I read that some of the Perrins were this way also...
