Roommates girlfriend crushed my hood. Carbon?
So my roommates girlfriend made several mistakes in the last two days. First, after I told her not to park in front of the garage, so I could park there, she did. Then this morning I wake up to her pounding on my door and she says hey I need you to move your car and give you my insurance information. Oh Sh** right. So I get up go out side and luckily she only hit my hood, her car had one of those tire on the back. Anyway it was pushed up and bent at very sharp angles probably 2 to 3 inches in. I took it to a shop just a little bit ago and they said because its aluminium you cant bend it back or ever make it look new. I also got a quote from them for 1997 dollars, and another shop gave me a quote for 2111 dollars. so Its gonna be in that price range. So what I want to know is should I get a carbon fiber hood and which one is the best fitting ? Or should I just stick with the stock hood, I know its aluminium and lighter but I do like the look of carbon fiber, plus theyre alot cheaper. Let me know what you think thanks.
Heck for that price get an used OEM hood and get the 3M dry carbon wrap and wrap the hood and the roof and trunk as well. You'll get the look your after with the durability of the OEM hood

still whats a good fitting carbon hood like seibon maybe? Im not really confident in my abilites to make it look good with the 3m rap and rather than buy a dry carbon hood I have other plans, to build my car with that money, rather than save like 4 pounds ill had a 100 or so hp

do not get carbon its worthless... carbon does not fit right, the clear coat crack very easy and they are pre cut so they will be gaps when u install it.. i bought a oem hood and just repainted it and its much better than that crapy siebon hood i bought .. i sold that carbon hood as fast as i can lol..just giving a fair warning.. just find somebody who is selling oem hood

I'm 50/50 on the subject of Carbon vs. OEM. With carbon, you get a unique look that stands out but beyond that, what's it worth? Do you have to use hood pins? No Bueno. Is it heavier than OEM? I doubt it really matters that much if you're not racing the car. What about extra care? Keeping up with clear coats and hoping people are wise enough not to sit on your hood (I've seen it happen before).
OEM, you know what you're getting and it's a direct replacement. It's light and it's durable and won't crack if some fat *** leans/sits on it. Aside from possibly pocketing some extra cash, I'm not seeing the benefit of CF other than pure aesthetics. Then again, you could probably find an OEM hood on here and still pocket some cash, if your insurance is cutting you a check for the full amount.
Just my .02 cents.
