Effin COBB! Sob! I've been looking.

I actually HAD one a year ago. Cancelled the order. Now they're not to be found.

Is the Works quiet? That's the main thing.

dammit, why don't we have high quality audio files of all of these configurations contrasted with stock?

Ok, so I've decided to put this off to get this research done a little more carefully.

Question... Would a K&N drop in filter work as well as the SpeedElement OMG? it would stay cleaner, it being in the box and all.

Does anyone in Northern VA have a similar config with any of the cat backs mentioned that I can hear in person?

i would take a different tact to the modding approach. do you have a hp target in mind? i think that will help you narrow down what parts you need to reach that goal.

If you have any questions contact Adam from Map, really easy to get a hold of.
Hmmmm. I don't find that exact 400-847.

But this one will do:
Walbro 255lph High Pressure Fuel Pump & Install Kit (DSM / Evo / WRX & STi)
Item Number GSS342 / 400-791

right? Thanks, sorry to be a PITA.

Not really. My answer is probably something like "as much as possible without sounding TOO illegal, being too annoying and spending too much money".

Probably plan on keeping stock turbo but....

I guess I'd like to get to 400+ WHP eventually so I can hang with that Ferrari California I crossed the Roosevelt bridge with the other day *did I just say that out loud?* but I was thinking just a basic first tune with basic bolt ons will hold me over for a while.

Are you thinking that I could be going down the wrong path with what i've got planned so far?

I really appreciate the advice here. This forum's collective knowledge is really impressive.

thanks for that.

right now I'd like to concentrate on making an informed decision about whether the speed element is better than the K&N...

think what you have listed is a good starting point but for over 400whp assuming 93 fuel, not e85 then you would need more mods such as front mount intercooler. definately an open element air filter (not panel) some kind of silicone hose kit and tbolt clamps for your intake system its peace of mind on the couplers and the stock hose clamps will fail on raised boost no matter if you are running 93 or e85 (higher boost than stock)

what i have found out since modding my car is that things such as the panel filter you should skip since you will be going towards an open filter so will take a loss on selling that etc... if you are doing the licp you might as well do the fmic to get things set up for your goal of 400whp. you can see where i am going with this

this is a very helpful link as well to help you out

FERNO has me about convinced to get the Tanabe:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/9607251-post21.html

and Now Zeus has me looking at
FMIC = ETS 3.5 from MAPerforemance
http://www.maperformance.com/ets-int...and-evo-9.html

I like the understated bling factor of the combination of the two.

Oh boy... Makes me think what OTHER little detail I'm over looking. Throttle body? Injectors?

The manifold sounds like a good idea but I thought that the injectors would not get maxed out on the stock turbo?

- Megan Racing SS Turbo Outlet(O2) Housing (Ceramic Coated)

- Megan Racing Downpipe
http://www.maperformance.com/megan-r...npipe-evo.html

- Which High Flow Cat? The only one I see that has the bung in place already is the MIL.SPEC 100 Cell
http://www.maperformance.com/mil.spe...3-evo-cat.html

Does that matter? Definately don't want no steenkin test pipe.

- Walbro 255 LPH Fuel Pump
I want high pressure:
http://www.maperformance.com/walbro-...o-wrx-sti.html

- Manual Boost Controller

- Wide Band O2 Sensor (Innovate LC-1)

- Professional Tune (http://www.dpstuning.com/, Gaithersburg)

I think that's all, did I miss something?

Last Question... will the 3" HFC bolt up to the OEM intermediate pipe? I really want a nearly stock-quiet car so I plan on using the OEM muffler for now. If you know that won't work, please recommend a solution.

Naturally, this is based on perusing this brilliant thread:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-100-time.html

and doing a lot of searching.

EvoM community help will be much appreciated.

As you have a IX, all you need are a MBC, a tune, and a TBE of your choice. The rest is marginal. The gains, if any, are relatively small and the car's drivability and integrity are disproportionately compromised.

There are two ways to approach this: There's the hobbyist aspect where the owner chooses, buys, installs every bolt-on imaginable and lives with the consequences, and there's the drivebility/reliability perspective where one opts for the minimal number of parts to achieve a given goal and leaves the car as close to factory as possible. You choose which you're more comfortable with. FWIW, you're currently pursuing the former option. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you're willing to live with the results. Good luck.
