Why are people selling their evo's and what are you planning to get????
Wow, a lot of people are apparently loaded in this thread...everybody getting GTRs and R8s
...If you can all afford them, then you should probably trade in your evos...however for me, the thought of having a fast, fun, tunable car and one that you can work on fairly easily out weighs that of not only the initial cost, but maintenance cost of a GTR and R8. Sure I'd love to have both...but for me...the thought of selling my Evo just doesnt last any longer than a second or two.
For me it's a weekend warrior, that is pretty dependable, cheap to maintain if you treat it well, and something I can take to the rallies/offroading in the summer time.....I just cant take an R8 or GTR to a rally...feel like it's too nice to hit some gravel with (maybe that's just my opinion)....Sure the fact that people think it's a rice box pisses me off sometimes...but honestly it has enough power to shut them up.. So for me...if I had to trade it in for something in a similar price range (new, around 35-40K).......Just cant think of anything that would give me the same feelings when I'm behind the wheel...period ...in fact if you know me..I always say when I hit the lottery first thing I'd do is go by a few more IX's

I hate people like you who post dumb answers like this!!I sold my evo 9 ,and 5 of my other friends did the same to buy something better..Nothing beats the $25 radio, cheap seats ,no cruise control, rattles, big wing, etc etcc.lol.
I have to admit when I was making 576 on pump gas and use to go wot, nothing made me smile like that..If your just driving normal the car is a complete piece of garbage,If I go and think about it,I spent 38 k for the and around 18 k in mods..That was the biggest waste because when you sell it,it's worth nothing no one pays for mods in this economy..
It wasn't an answer; it was a comment. There's a difference.
That makes six of you out of ~20,000 cars sold. That must surely mean that "lots of people" are selling their Evos. Brilliant.
It's probably best you sold the car, as no one in his right mind would gauge an Evolutions for the reasons you stated.
Let's see if I get this right: You bought an Evo, sunk gobs of cash into to just to make it undrivable, but with bragging rights installed, and now you're regretting doing something so dumb. Well, live and learn, I guess.
Edit: I just saw a recent thread where you're asking the forum whether you should buy another Evo. WTF is all this about, making you feel better about a purchase? No, you should not buy another Evolution. This car is not for you. I have no idea what you should buy, but given all you've said, a performance machine that requires driver input should probably not be considered. This being said, a big V8 with an automatic and lots of comfort options might do the trick. Clearly, you really care about flooring the pedal, as far as performance goes. Good luck.

I'm selling mine soon, it was the best car I've ever owned but 5 years, I'm ready for a change. Going German next.
Let me give you the number reason people sell their evo's.....Kids! Idk how many evo's I have seen for sell say " Don't want to sell but have a kid on the way" or "have to sell because wife is making me for a more practical car with more room for kids"
What about a Lexus IS350? I was considering picking one up before I got my second evo and I still look from time to time. All the previous suggestions in this thread seem to be late model audis, bmws and nissans (gtr though? What about a 370z?)
I have had mine for two years. Right now I am enjoying the build up and the anticipation for a first drive on the new set up. I can't imagine putting my time and heart into it just to dump it in a few years.
Hope I keep it MINT for good!
Maybe in five years I'll add a GT-R to the collection. Then I can make a proper comparison.

Don't plan on selling mine anytime soon also.knowing that evo x might be the last, performance oriented evo.so basically evo 8,9 and 10 one day will be highly collectable car.look at the euro ebay or car ads, how much they asking for evo 1 to 5.
My kids totally love riding in it. But I hear you about the gas gussler. My wife drives an Escalade so she has more hp and worse gas mileage than I do.. Who would have thought an evo was the gas saver?
I have no plans to sell my EVO, but I do tend to buy a new car every 1-2 years. I like the Porsche Cayman S and R and the 1M BMW also the GT-R is nice but $90k would be a stretch dollarwise. It's hard not to want to go up the foodchain when you trade cars.
