timing belt slack disappeared?

sooo I had just got done putting my intake cam back in, tightened the cam cover bolts down, and was putting the cam gear back on. I put the bolt on and noticed the cams had moved like 1-2 degrees... so I rotated them back to TDC... but now all the slack I had on the timing belt is gone... and the cam gear BOLT won't screw into the cam gear... wtf just happened? the tensioner tool is still in there...

did you pull the whole timing belt to rotate the gears or did you put a wrench on the actual cam and rotate it to line up the dowl with the gear dowl hole if that makes sense

well i put a wrench on the cam and a wrench on the cam gear but the cam still moves when youre tightening/loosening it... thats why it was off at all in the first place

the bolt will go in... BUT ONLY AT AN ANGLE sooo im really not sure wtf happened and why my slack is gone

you need to hold the cam with a wrench while tighting to prevent it from moving also once it all tightrnd down remove the tool and turn motor over by hand and recheck the timing marks do this multiple times if it doent line up dont start the car you will have to redo the timing from scratch reload the hydro tensioner ect ect

i would just get it on and try to move the cam with a wrench while moving the gear around once its on it kind of seats itself onto the cam

nice make sure you triple check the timing by rotateing the engine by hand multiple times by hand or rolling it fowards in 5th slowly pushing it
