^ even upgraded rx-8 are slow. A stock motor, turbocharged rx-8 barely gets into the 13s. (in reference to the greddy build)

Yes the stock clutch is pretty strong. I have at a minimum of 25 launches on mine at 50,000 miles

I ask because i bought this EVO back in May it was already tuned to E85 and putting down 400awhp, and there was no launch control on it when i drove it away, I then had it re-tuned to pump gas due to lack of E85 stations in my area.

I recently had a launch tune set on my car. it is set a 5275rpm 8-9PSI. It launch awesome!!
This I'm actually not positive about as I bought my car used. People have said that the "stock launch control" is set at 5k rpm. However... there's an abundance of people on here that sometimes don't think about their words and I'm not positive if they're meaning that the launch control comes stock, or once you activate it in the ECU it is setup at 5k rpm.

In any event... the "stock" 2 step is at 5k rpm. My launches were fantastic from 5k rpm. The only reason my launch control is now set at 5825, is because I got the car tuned and the tuner suggested they've had more success with spinning the tires during the launch. ymmv.

Yup, I had a 320 rwhp RX-8 and it was great through the turns, but got **** on by my hot female friend's Stage 1 STi in a straight line. Shortly afterwards I got an Evo...

You can change the setting to your 2 step by the rpm's with a laptop and a tactrix port. Yours was probably changed when the E85 tune was done. My EVO is pretty much stock and the 2 step is at 5k

Like anything and a new car, takes practice! Just try not to slip it too much with the stock clutch, if your car has any kind of decent power over stock, the stock clutch wont last long if you are launching alot!

Oh and dont make Evo's look bad getting beat out of the whole by an RX8, thats almost as bad as a ricer civic smashing an Evo on launch! haha, gotta give you a hard time on that one! Go practice a few launches without racing anyone to get a feel for it! Good luck!
