What should I expect to pay for install..

Tried searching for this but I could not find a direct answer anywhere on the forums...

I plan to buy a 2.3 stroker kit for my evo8 in the near future and although I trust myself to be pretty mechanically inclined... I do not trust myself to do a job of this level..

SO, I wanted to know what I should expect to pay a shop to do this sort of install... I plan to go to ESP(http://enhancedstreetperformance.com/) here in Sterling, as I have heard good things and they are literally 80 yards from my house

I would rather fork up the cash then mess something up in my own garage and be down a car for months...

Thanks in advance!

Branden

Yeah I figured this would be the best bet... but I was hoping someone else has paid a shop to get this sort of work done I'll call em when it comes time to actually order the setup I suppose.

It really depends on what you're having done at the same time as the stroker install. Typically with this type of build you'll want to do a lot of regular maintenance items while you're in there (seals, TB, etc.). You'll probably also find that you'll run into a lot of "while it's taken apart" items like headwork.

Like top was saying, just call the shop and talk to them about what you want to do and go from there.

$1500 for the swap of engines, $1200-1500 in machining depending on if the block has to be clearanced for the rods. Various shop materials fee for brake cleaner, silicone etc, gaskets.

All together with a build, parts, shop fees and machine shop fees your looking at around $7-8,000.

To maybe pull the motor out and back in, what about the shop putting together the motor? Like I said around $3000-$5000 with building the motor and going back in.

Not counting parts .

Usually a short block runs you about $3000-3500.

Then you have to add the front cover, oil pump, water pump, timing belt and tentioners, gasket set etc.... Your looking at about another $1000+ there.

Plus the cost to put everything back together and removing the old motor thats about $1200-$1500 max.

On top of that think about fluids, a tune, possibly a double pumper. It all adds up.

I have about 10k in my motor 2.3 stroker with all new belts tensioners etc. plus while i was in there i did 1mm oversized valves intake/exhaust and had the head ported. To install a stroker kit you are basically building a new engine.
