Spark Plug issue..

Plug: Denso IKH24

Anyone else seen this before? Car was running fine for a 2k miles (.024) but began breaking up at full boost recently, we pulled the plugs and re-gapped to .022 then the car was idling bad and breaking up terribly as I drove it slowly. Pulled the plugs again to find this. Is this my only issue or should I think about replacing my coils.

Car is a 2006 Evo IX w. 32,xxx miles.

You need a new plug either way. So, try a new plug first.

I've never had that happen before. I only use NGKs though, I tired a few different brands over the years on a few different cars and NGKs always seem to work the best.

Ordered some NGK's thanks guys, very disappointed with these Denso's especially after reading all the good reviews on here prior to buying them.

This is crazy!!! I have been thinking about contacting Denso regarding a spark plug issue I had. 3 of my spark plugs cracked.. Yes actually cracked at the porcelen part. Car started missfiring like crazy.. Jay From Boosted Tuning and me were going crazy trying to figure out what it might be.

Similar problem..

I don't know if anyone still reads this, but I run NGKs and my EVO 8 cracks the porcelain. I bought the car a couple months ago and have been through 3 sets. Is there something that causes this? The shop can't tell me anything because my car isn't throwing codes.

Spark plug insulator cracking is caused by a few things.
  1. Detonation
  2. Too hot of a spark plug range.
  3. Foreign object
  4. Too high of EGTs
  5. Too lean AFR
  6. Improper handling (dropping a plug)
  7. Over-Torquing(And under!)
