Quality HID Thread (for non-HID Evos)
Only read the OP's first post-
I'd highly recommend against putting HID's in a halogen housing. I've been there and ultimately ended up going back to a higher quality than stock halogen bulb.
This was on my 240SX, as the Evo has factory hid/projectors.
The cutoff/beam pattern were just crap with the HID's in a halogen housing, and honestly only give you the "white or blue light look" while actually doing worse for driveability. I'd prefer the white look but I need to be able to see at night, which is much more important.
The modified 9012 bulb works better than the 9006...

Any input would help
Hey guys. I'm trying to find the right HID kit for my car. I have a 2011 GSR non SSS or SS package now i guess. So i don't have the nice "oval" lense. I dont know if i need to get a new lense for it. As you can see, not great with electrical stuff. Anyways, this is what i found. In terms of lighting, wattage, etc.. this is what i want. Just want to make sure it will work with my car.

I just had DDM tuning 35w kit on my daily sonata, ballasts lasted 2 days. Their customer service was terrible.
If I were to ever get another kit it will be 55w kit, I've never had issues with the 55w kits from DDM tuning, but the 35w kit has been a p.i.t.a.
I've had other DDM tuning kits before and never had a bad experience, but this time it was a nightmare. I ended up ordering a set of OPT7 kit, hopefully these will be a little better, we will see.

$150 is a rip off. DDM is less than $40 and i had my 55w kit for two years without any issues. no blinking, quick warmup.
go for the 5000k bulb it is the pure white. if you get the higher K bulbs like the purple stuff, their light scatters more.

I bought an hid kit from www.kbcarstuff.com and yes their customer service is horrible. It took me 4 weeks to receive my kit and I was told from the beginning it was going to be expedited shipping and it clearly was not.

I have 6000k 9006 bulbs ebay kit for $30 they work awesome and are bright as hell. And not to mention after I took the front bumper off it took my like 30 min to install both sides... So I have no complaints
Hey guys any pics of the beam pattern that you will see when you put an aftermarket HID kit in the stock non-hid projector housings? I am thinking about running HIDs but I don't want to deal with a crummy cutoff and blinding people. If the output is less than desireable I will probly go to theretrofitsource.com and start getting parts together for a full HID retrofit. Thanks!
