How far would you go...

How far would you go to get the things you want for your car?

I made a decision that I'll go for rally companies that participate on events and get their parts. My decision is firm. Since the Evo was a rally inspired car, I'll go for the Rally inspired parts.

To start with, I already know that this will be not an easy task and not cheap. I've been eyeing on this exhaust for a while. Although I have the money paying this much, but for the exhaust, it's a little too much.

I've been looking around for Ralliart exhaust and no luck at all so i'm moving to Monster sport. Exhaust+shipping will put a big dent on the bank. Its achievable and I know I can pay for it, but the the fact that I will be paying $3300 for an exhaust only is a bit too much. But I know that when the purchase is over I'll be happy and one of the most expensive parts will be out of the way. I really want the exhaust but a big dent on the bank JUST for an exhaust will be painful.

So guys, how far will you go to get the things you want for your car before you say it's too pricey and buy something but not quite what you want.

Should I go for it?

If that's the way you feel then go for it, in my opinion 3300 for an exhaust is ridiculous. There's tons of quality parts that will give your rally feel without the rally price. Good luck

It's the shipping that kills me, not the exhaust itself

Ummmm that's a little bit over kill. I'm sure, actually positive you could get an awesome exhaust for about 1/3 of that price. With the rest of the left over money you are saving you could always put it into other parts for the the vehicle...

No one will be impressed outside of car shows where spending more $$ is better.

Most people will think "this guy paid 3300 for something he could have gotten for 500 ". It's not going to look or sound any different than a number of other exhausts.

IMHO, there are some things America is just better at, and making power from the 4G63 is one of them.

Im not doing it for attention. It's for myself. Like I bought the EVO not for other people to look at me but it's been my dream car since I was a kid that's why I bought it

can you comfortably afford it? don't sacrifice other stuff in your life just to get a exhaust. If your fine in other departments of your life and if you like the exhaust then go for it my man!

Just think about the other stuff you could buy for the 2500 price difference between that and a normal exhaust. You could have an amazingly nice set of wheels and tires for that much.

not to be rude, but you're fooling yourself. a true rally car is over 100k and perhaps well more with r&D. no sense in trying to get stuff like that. What good is the 3300 dollar exhaust when it doesn't even have the rally suspension well over 10k a side?

I have a model of an Evo WRC car. After reading this thread, I turned it over to look at the exhaust. It is a straight piece of pipe (very slight bend at the rear diff), with a couple of hangers, running from the engine to the rear of the car.

Since you ask, I'm not willing to go far at all. To me modding for the sake of modding is dumb, at least from an automotive perspective. It becomes a game of parts' hierarchy, a poser perspective, in lieu of a driving machine - the actual purpose of a car. When one considers how parts are viewed and admired, the car in stationary/parked position, the irony triumphs all.
