Why park your Evo in the winter when it was kinda made for it?

Salt isn't an issue if you wash it off every now and then. I grew up in Indiana and have never had a rust problem on my cars which has been a grand total of 13 of them.
I was at Wal Mart yesterday and there were about 300 cars that would disagree with your rust theory.

If I had to drive the car, I would, dont get me wrong. It is a blast in the snow. But I have my 97 toyota camry for that haha. If it gets hit, I actually will be happy, cause the insurance will give me money, that I prolly would just throw into the evo.

Ive daily'd my past two evos. While it was fun indeed, I dont have to now, so it will sit in my garage that stays a comfy 72 degrees lol.

Body and frame will survive several snow seasons without too much corrosion. The problem is, if like myself you are a DIY mechanic, corroded bolts and parts can double the time of a repair. Suspension and engine parts can be very difficult to remove with bolts rounding or snapping. This happens on my DD that is driven through the winter.

You're right it is true that's why I said it. If you look at my post I was talking about my car I didn't say that would be that case for all cars. My undercarriage is coated with some stuff to protect it from corrosion.

I have 60k on my evo, daily driven everyday no matter what and my car has no rust from salt on it. I wash my car alot, even in the winter though, so that might play a big role in that

Im in the NW, so no salt on the roads.

The Evo is by far the most fun car Ive ever driven in the rain. It does things beautifully and predictable it makes me looks like a rally star when ever I feel like being a jack *** on the road. I wouldn't dream of parking it over the winter. Besides, its just an Evo. Not like its a 997 turbo or GTR or something of real value.

Even more reason not to let her get eaten alive by salt. Stock Evos are the rarest Evos these days.

I was looking at an Evo 9 the other day. It looked to have no form of rust damage.... Until I looked behind the removable trunk panel, left side of the trunk.

I would have bought the car, however, the rust was a deal breaker.

exactly why mine stays parked in winter. I might get a wrx for winter. At least if that gets rusty or slammed into it wont bother me.

Southern cars tend to be worth more than northern cars, and can be advertised as such. People are a lot less weary of buying a car that they know probably has never seen a bad winter. One of my cars was a PA car and when I got it it had a bunch of rusted bolts in the engine bay. It didn't seem to hurt anything, but it was very ugly to look at. Luckily the undercarriage ended up being pretty much rust free.

This question is not much different than why don't people daily drive their Evos. The best answer is probably because we don't want to. Simple.

Not a bad idea.

I have a monthly unlimited car wash pass that does undercarage cleaning and drying.

I just wait until the storm is done and wash/dry it clean. Plus at least with the 100K rust warranty I should hopefully have coverage, but I am hoping I won't need it.

True that you can't trust other drivers but one of the reasons I got my evo was for the 4 doors and AWD. I love this car in the snow. Just spray the salt off a few times a month and chances are the car will outlast you. My car will stay DD! If anything else, I trust putting my family in this car than any other that I've owned when driving in the snow.
