Help Deciding please...

Hey guys. I am trying to decide to buy an 04 Evo 8 RS. The car looks very good in and out. Has 40k miles on it. Its white and has following mods: HKS turbo back exhaust, cams, flash, Cam gears, bigger intercooler, boost controller, turbo timer etc which = to 365 whp. It has an ACT clutch. The guy is asking 15k for it.

It has a Evo 9 front end conversion with HID's. BBS wheels with good tires.

My concerns are that RS doesnt have ABS and I will be driving mainly in bad weather (rain & snow). Also the car has a rebuild title do to a theft.

Please let me know if its a good idea to buy this car. Thanks.

What are your intentions with the car?

I dont drive a lot so I will DD it for now and planing on making it about 500 whp and run it some on the 1/4 then maybe a track day.

P.S I lived in Oceanside when I was stationed at Pendleton. I wonder if you ever met my friends red r32 with VF engineering turbo.

i dont think the abs will be that big of a deal and a rebuilt title isnt either. just inspect the car up and down first.

Car seems to good to be true. Body has not even a ding or a scratch, interior is clean enough to eat off. Engine bay is clean as hell. Sits pretty on Swift springs and billstein shocks. Drove it and it was boostin very healthy from 4/5 to 9k. Idled good too, no knocks.

I wouldn't be too concerned about small little luxuries then. The RS sounds like a great choice for you intentions. Most people that track their cars don't even like the ABS.

To be honest, I'd be more worried about the car not being beat to **** than small options like ABS.

It doesn't look like its been abused. Gear shifter is short and precise, clutch feels strong, boosting pretty strong...

Then it sounds like a good deal, but looks can be deceiving, sir. And there are plenty of stories on this forum to back that up.

I'm not trying to scare you, just trying to help. Just make sure you don't become mesmorized over what seems to be a good deal vs what is a good deal. Do a good thorough check on everything before pulling the trigger.

Hope it's a good deal and good luck!

I have an RS and it handles fine in bad weather. No need for ABS.... or power windows.... or power locks.... lol

I did however invest in lock actuators when I installed my alarm though.

BEFORE YOU BUY, RUN A CAR FAX REPORT! that will be the only real way to find out the reason why it has a rebuilt tittle. It might of been in an accident for all you know.

Gotta learn how to pump those brakes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I didnt have ABS in my 03 lancer es and I got through 7 NY winters with it no problems. Of course, I had dedicated snow tires on it though.

As far as the car goes, I would definitely have it checked out by someone who deals with evos and knows what to look for. Good luck
