How are people shipping Downpipes???

First off where are you getting a box? ITs about 3 feet long. When calculating at USPS, UPS, and FedEx of a 36x16x16 box they all show around $60+ to ship the damn thing. Am I calculating wrong?

Go to a UPS pack and ship and have them make a box for it. Also if you sign up for an account through the UPte S or FedEx websiyou will get a discount when the bill comes for the shipment. It will show you a retail rate but you'll get a negotiated discounted rate. The reason most can ship them so cheap is volume.

I shipped my old Injen DP in just bubble wrap. Placed Ship label on bubble wrap and sent it.

The person received it as expected.

Sounds about right. Heavier and odd/large sized packages will cost you. For reference, a set of tires and wheels will cost around $250 to ship via fedex or ups. You can try baxglobal, should be cheaper.

i took my LCD TV box and hacked it up and made my own box....but i was shipping a whole catback exhaust. and the cost depends on how you're shipping and where. shipping from coast to coast will cost you.

You laugh but I ended up doing that. And the I went to a small automotive store in town that happens to do UPS shipping. They are old school and use a chart and booklet to do all the paper work. The DP cost me 13 bucks to ship.

Go behind stores and pick up them' throw-away boxes. :P

Shipping a downpipe shouldn't be that expensive. I've shipped many catbacks before and the most I've been charged was $50 bucks - UPS ground.

I try to avoid UPS because from my experience they have been pretty expensive.

I normally ship via fedex. I just shipped a downpipe last week and cost me 23.10, including $600 insurance and request for signature at delivery. Not as cheap as bubble wrap methods mentioned above and UsPS but not as expensive as UPS.

You can get free used boxes from Uhaul or buy them pretty cheep at any Storage places... If they dont have one in the exact size you need, grab something close or a couple and trim/modify it to your needs.
