Yes they are full of it. I am sure one of us would have heard of this before them. The car salesman is full of **** no ayc or acd coming here yet. Motor trend knows about the new 2004 rs and it doesnt have any of these mods.

 

Agreed, my contacts at Mits said there was no need to bring this over, and because of emission laws, the FQ 300 or 330 w/AYC and ACD will not pass due to some of their settings. Also, they are not seeing the demand they had hoped for, so why bring over a car that costs 45K, when they are having trouble selling the ones' for 30k?

NOw, they could offer this as an add on, but no likely. When I asked about purchasing it, they directed me to a guy in Europe, and gave me the part numbers, and said have at it.

Now this guy is in the motorsports division, so he may not be 'up-to-date' with his info.

I am not a smart man, but I can repeat what I am told. Oh, and before I get flamed, the ECU settings were too aggressive, not the AYC or ACD which caused the ban. But to each their own.

Just as Stop&TurnFreak says...AYC and ACD had nothing to do with the import restriction. It was all about emissions control and frontal impact protection. We got a different ECU and front & rear intrusion bars under the bumper covers. That's all we needed for import.

The reason we didn't get 6-speeds, ACD, and S-AYC is cost. From everything I've read, they would add about 10 grand to the cost of the car (not 6 grand as the guy on EVOHorsepower says). Mitsu positioned this car as a competitor to the original $24,000 WRX, so asking over 40 grand for it wouldn't make much sense.

Seriously though, didn't motor trend already test an rs? Weren't the specs the same spare the front lsd?

 

ya my throat hurts now.....

but i wouldnt have bought it if it cost 40k> even with the "cool" but marginally improving the drivability and possiblity of adding substantial drivetrain loss (more parts, more loss) of the AYC/ACD

now the front LSD.< is kinda cool
