do yourself a favor and do some research on your own, ask engine builders AMS performance, Spec Ops, Tach Motorworks, people, or people who actually deal with oil's ect... these shops build, test , tune and abuse engines all day long they can give you the best reccomendation yet, also go online there is plenty test data of oil comparos, dont ask a shop that is only using engines for drag racing why simply because they are accustommed for dropping the oil after every so many pases.

Here you are going to get way too many opinions, some will say i have been using pertro oil some will say i have been using blends and you wont get a straight answer,, also your case is very different to others, example your temps from an enviromental stand point, how you drive the car, type of fuels, mods your evo has ect....

Ok, I def need to venture-out into other oil brands. I've been stuck with Mobil1 religiously.

I'm really interested in this AMSOIL brand. Can someone give me a QUICK 101 about this? Oil change intervals, etc..

i noticed an immediate difference running amsoil - 10w30, 5w30, and 0w30. all run great, motor runs a little better for sure.

i think oil filter is just as important as the oil.. because it does exactly that. always run amsoil oil filters as well

Oil filters I run Hastings LF402.

http://www.amazon.com/Hastings-LF402.../dp/B000C3F2KI

These are the same shorty filters that are sold as rebranded AMSOIL filters.

I don't have my references right in front of me, but I will follow up with some proof.

I searched in quite a few places to try and track down who made what filters in an attempt to see if I had been using crappy quality media in my filters unknowingly and thinking it was actually high quality.

After running across a few respected oil talk websites where car filters were part of the discussion, I dug around and found a few reports by posters that list the less known companies that were making filters for various other well known companies.

IIRC, Wix, Hastings and Fram make quite a lot of rebranded filters but Hastings had the highest quality (PPM) rating media of the three.

I spend a lot of money on my track car, so why cut corners on a $10 consumable like an oil filter?
