Dealers will try to rape you and with good reason, why would a dealer pay you market price, he's not exactly there to make you happy. Private sale will be better IMO. I don't blame dealers for trying to make money, that's his job so don't expect big offers.
agree with what everyone else has said, however, it depends on what dealer you went to as well. im assuming you took it to a chevy dealership since your looking to trade it in for a corvette. im pretty sure a misubishi dealership would prob offer you more for the car since it is one of their own, but finding a corvette at a mitsubishi dealership to trade in for might be hard.
and honestly thats prob around what blue book is for your car right now, not that anyone goes by that now days honestly. i know this because blue book on my 03 in "mint" condition with 87k miles on it three years ago was only 11.5k. i hate to burst your bubble, but imho you would be very lucky to get 14k-15k for an 04 with that high of mileage even from an individual. there are an awful lot of 40-50k mileage evos same year or newer between the 15-17k dollar range

There's your problem... if I was a car dealer I'd be scared of that thing too.

Lights are not tinted they are professionally painted, the car is worth money to a private seller. I owned this car and sold it to the OP it was meticously maintained and has a beautiful custom paint job. Those wheels are Southern Ways they are impossible to find in the United States and one of only three sets cut for the Evo. They alone would sell new for 2500-3000 so a part out back to stock could be better. But either way Curtis sell it on the forum, dont waste your time selling to a dealer!!!

Yea has 610 prolly more since i added a FB 70mm TB last month.
I def wasnt going to trade it in with 610 tho lol. I wouldve taken alot off of the car prior to trade in. But ill prolly go with a different route because theres no way in hell i would get rid of it for 8.5k
Headlights are professionally painted
I never understood why people black out any of their lights anyway...people drive bad enough as it is to make it harder for them to see you stopping.
Anyway, private is the way to go for sure. I've had too many experiences with dealers to know better. They go by what they can get the car for at auction...bottom line. KBB and other guides mean nothing to them...unless they are hurting for the business.
