Does the 370z engine require you to rebuild to get past xxx hp like the 350z?

Every engine has its limits. We like to see around 530whp on 93 octane on the mustang dyno for daily driven 370s, before even turning a valve cover bolt. That's literally just a bolt-on TT kit, a good clutch, and an ecu reflash. It ends up being a pretty fun grocery getter at that power level. One of my personal cars is a Supercharged '03 350Z which makes around 450whp at 10psi with the only motor work being Brian Crower Stage-2 cams. Another one of my cars, an E36 M3, is going under the knife soon for a turbo build, which should see similar numbers as the 370, and in the 600 range after a headgasket.

The main issue at the power levels these cars are seeing is traction with street tires, something Evos benefit from not having to worry about. My Z has Potenza RE-01's, a nice sticky street/track tire, and it will still try to break them loose in 4th on cooler summer nights (enough to trigger the trac control if its on). Hoping to step into a WW Evo9 RS this year The last Mitsu I had was a 1998 Eclipse GSX that I sold years ago with 30k orig miles.

.
I see many 370z puts down pretty good numbers with just bolts on turbo kit. And seems MUCH better holding boost on stock block than older ones. But i'm sure many others wondering how long that grocery getter will last....Your DE did put down pretty good numbers at only 10 psi. I hit around 420@12~13psi on dynojet with vortech and so does many others, some even with cams.

He didn't say you'd be back in 6 mos, he said you'd be back. And he's right.

Enjoy the new ride, see ya 'round. Also, just because you have a 370 doesn't mean you have to leave EvoM. I'm sure you'll still have some great input as long as you don't make a habit of comparing the cars in every thread you post to.

Actually that is around the right time to have kids. I have two (my first was at 27) and I have used my 03 Evo as my daily driver/family vehicle without issue for the past five years, but as you said though opinions...

Congrats on the 370z. I'd love to buy one but my kids won't fit in it Its a beautiful ride.
