I have an 03 8 and it seems to be loosing power steering at low RPMs. Does this mean my pump is on its way out? I checked the fluid and it was really low so I filled it and it is still doing it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Corey.

 

Is it making any growling noises? How long was it left with low fluid? When you topped it off did you let it run until the fluid wasnt aerated then check the level again? How does the belt look? If you were low on fluid I would check for leaks in the system.

 

You may have fried the pump. Also, you have a leak that needs to be fixed. My car with no leaks has exactly the same amount of PS fluid it had from the factory.

 

^^^There is no noise at all. The fluid was fine when I checked it about a month or two ago. It was kind of all of a sudden that I noticed the ps not working completely at idle. It seems like anything above 1k RPMs that it's fine. But when just idling it comes and goes. I filled the fluid up Monday and it is still just as full today.
