Do not go to Mudpit Performance

Just as the title states, I blew my engine and decided for a full rebuild of my engine from these guys in Dallas. I paid a good 3 grand for some new pistons and rods and the labor. 800 miles later down the road, with no racing involved whatsoever with every gear change below 5500 rpm, the results are a broken main bearing, crankwalk, and a blown crank sensor. I do not recommend anybody going there, as the owner tried to blame it on my whining transmission and possible racing.

He doesn't want to cover the parts, but he said he'd fix it. It is a hassle to go back there since I moved away, and he did alot of shady things to my car, like missing bolts, a new crank sensor just the day before it finished, adjusting my clutch all the way to the top so that I could not get into gear (this is after he supposedly drove the car around), and etc. A friend recommended me to go to him but let's say I won't take any further advice from him....

That's a nightmare... I know what you mean about a friend recommending them. I had a friend recommend a shop for work on my turbo RX-8 and I ended up having to re-do all the work on the car myself, and fighting with the shop for over a year. It makes me really value the shop that does all the work on my Evo. They have never done anything shady or half-assed and have always taken care of me.

I blamed it on your clutch.I called and told you the clutch was not disengaging. The transsmision would have to come out to find the problem, the car would crank walk with an overextending clutch.I also said i would drop the transmission for free. You decided it would be better to have the car back immediatly.
When you picked the car up i showed you the problem.I also suggested the car should not be driven. You decided you should take it.At that point i told you the car will walk and i would not warranty the motor if the problem was not corrected.
You called me and told me the car was making a noise from the timing side.I said the motor has walked as i told you it would. You then volunteered that you knew the transmission input shaft bearing had a problem.I told the motor would walk if the clutch issue was not resolved and it was possible it could be related to the transmission problem you stated.

Yes i built a forged motor for 3000 installed out the door.
Yes i told you there was a problem that would destroy the motor.
Yes i offered to drop the transmission for free.
Yes i installed new transfer case bolts and a new strut bolt because they were missing or broken dur to the clutch install you said you and your freind did.
No i may not have found all the missing or broken fasteners from the clutch install performed before the car came to me.

Donald i am having a hard time seeing how i screwed you. Also i am curiuos why you post this nearly two years later.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is precisely why you get everything in writing.

I can vouch for Ligo AKA Mudpit Peformance. He takes his time on cars, but for a reason. I wouldn't mind leavign my Evo with him for months because I know it's in good hands.

The man knows his stuff. Listen to him. Pick his brain.
My evo was dropped off at Mudpit Peformance around November I believe, and "Ligo" did what I told him to. He also advised me on a couple of things that needed to be done.

Will I return to Mudpit Peformance? YES.
