TBE and emissions testing
TBE and emissions testing
I'm looking to finally do something about my exhaust setup and was wondering what are people's general practice regarding emissions. I was hoping to go TBE instead of catback but don't trust myself to want to go back and replace the exhaust once a year to do Georgia's emissions testing.
so for the TBE users do you guys usually switch out the entire exhaust when it's time for testing? Or does anyone use or recommend perhaps a 3 inch high flow cat that can stay on the car that wonmt's sacrifice too much performance.

CA sniffs and plugs into your OBDII port.....my 03 evo got sniffed and FAILED with out of this world emission levels (bad HFC)....borrowed a friends stock exhaust and purchased a low miles oem cat and passed with flying colors (still have it for my next required sniff test).
In my area they do OBD-II and visual for cat. Test pipe failed. I put the factory cat in the 3" turbo back and passed. Since then I have put a 100 cell cat in. We'll see what the response to a small cat below will be ....

i think it depends on your emissions place. here in colorado they do obd2 scan, sniffer and visual. i was looking around for cats and found the berk to be legal. i was going to get it but i got a 100 cell cat instead since i have a slip fit and not a bolt on. a cat only does so much, if your extremely modded, the cat wont help you pass, let alone a tbe.

visual inspection means they look down to see if u have a cat and the correct number of o2 sensors visible.
some places have on-ramp emissions testing, and they do have infrared cameras to see heat build up where its suppose to be.
